Wonderwall Lyrics
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
Backbeat the word is on the street
That the...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is the most outstanding song I have ever listened to in my whole life. I believe this song is simply about love which can't exist or is not allowed in our society. What I love the most of this song is the fact that the word: "love" is not mentioned in the lyrics, because I hate songs which contain this specific word the whole time. It makes the song dull which is definitely not the case in this song. This song is phantasmagoric, because everybody only by listening to the sound knows it's about love and unbreakable friendship. If you ask me the word: "maybe" makes the whole song unique in everything. There are so many situations nowadays where you can't really decide what you should do, which way you should choose, which person you can trust and choose for your whole hard life and instead of saying yes or no you say maybe...
Maybe you are the one who saves me
The word
"Wonderwall" is also a very essential part of this song. Lot's of peole have so called sole mates and I am really convinced that sole mates-kind of wonderwalls-exist. The man in this song has found his wonderwall/sole mate. He understands her completely/knows her more than himself/ would do everything for her if he could reach her/knows her feelings only by looking at her/loves her more than himself/wants to kill himself for her/likes the way she behaves in front of him/is confused because she exactly knows it when he looks at her/wants to be saved by her/wants to talk with her....however he knows that he is not even allowed to touch her. Depite of that fact he tries hard (although he sees that she has lots of men who want her..) to make her smile with his humour/jokes etc:)
He doesn't want to let her go and no matter how hard life is going to be for him and for her she will remain his wonderwall forever.
What is also worth mentioning are the sentences: "and all the roads we have to walk are winding and all the lights we gonna take are blinding. There are many things I d'like to say to you, but I don't know how"
Those words are amazing. Without a doubt everyone of us was in such a situatioe once. Don't you know this feeling where you want to tell your wonderwall how much you adore everything she/he does, but all you can do is just staring into the eyes of your sole mate and you can't explain why your words don't come out. Maybe cause of being too shy or maybe of being too nervous and anxious how your sole mate reacts..
That's why the feeling often appears in all of us that life is so hard and often not fair
And..well love is really difficult and not easy to handle.
Unreachable but unbreakable love/friendship is definitely one of the hardest. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I feel like this song is about someone who is deeply in love with someone but never really showed his feelings when he had the chance or later realized that he is in love with her more than he had realized before.. Maybe the girls has moved on now b/ he says that fire in her hear is out.
The first verse, makes me feel like she is in some kind of situation where she is moving on and she knows what she gotta do, but something that he doesn't want her to do b/ he feels like that will make him lose her.
"I don't belive that anybody feels the way I do about you now," verse that moves me the most, makes me to feel like others around them and maybe the girl doesn't really know how much deeply the guy is in love with her, and still kind of implies that he really wants to tell her how he really feels now.
But all the "roads we have to walk are winding" and "lights that lead us there are blinding," the situation is changing in a direction where it will be harder now than before for their love to come true. "There are many things I would like to say to you, but I don't know how," maybe b/ of the situation changing, he cannot tell her how he feels anymore or he is scared to b/ he feels like that will make him loose her even more than what is already happening in their lives, maybe she has moved on.. maybe to someone else, perhaps b/ she was tired of waiting for him or b/ she simply met someone else or is going away..
But he still hopes and belives in his heart that she may be the one special person for him.
"B/ maybe you're gonna be the one who saves me and after all you're my wonderwall." He still hopes and believes in his heart that she may still love him although the situation they are in makes it hard and that she may be the one special person that he will end up with later.
"Now you should've somehow realized what your're not to do," makes me feel like they are in a situation where they cannot be like before where they were able to be closer with one another. The second time, the verses are changed from all the roads "we have to walk" to are winding to all the roads that "lead to you" are winding. The road that will lead to her is slipping away, maybe they are somehow parting for now and they know that things will get harder for them to be together. But he continues to repeat that your are my "wonderwall," perhaps the very one special person that makes him truly happy in his heart, makes him come alive and free and safe, a safe haven, from the rest of world when he is with her.. He ends the song by repeating, "I said maybe," he doesn't want to let go and can't let go of the special feeling that he has about her, "you're gonna be the one that saves me," his belief that she may be the one that he will eventually end up with no matter what happens now, that they are meant for each other, that they are meant to be together eventually. -

#3 top rated interpretation:An amazing song. My boyfriend and my favorite, it's our song.
To me this song is a couple that has an unstable relationship, it has it's up and downs. He is madly in love with her and believes that nobody loves her the way he does. "backbeat the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out" word is going around, and he believes, that her love for him is weakening. He has trouble explaining how much she means to him, but he's so in love with her. Being with her makes everything alright to him, she's there to catch him when he falls, she's his wonderwall. "and all the roads we have to walk are winding, and all the lights that light the way are blinding" as long as they are together, there will be problems, the road in life they will walk will be hard. There will be good times and bad, but throughout it all he will love her. -
I believe this song is about a guy wanting her to know how he truly feels , but she has been through too much , fought all she can fight and she is fed up with just maybe , a maybe doesn’t work with a woman with standards and morals . A lot of men smarten up when it’s too late and there wonderwall is gone . But a true integral woman doesn’t have time for “maybes” it’s either a yes or a no , no Gray in between . You can be his wonderwall , he should always protect you , provide for you never make you wonder on where you stand as his woman . A good woman knows her worth , eventually she will be leaving because too much time wasted on non sense . Woman need to smarten up , listen , don’t take the first thing they throw at you , keep the guard up , because if a man truly loves you for who you are no other man will able to withstand him , especially when GOD is the head of it all .

I think most people here have it right. It’s definitely about someone he loves more than anything and is faced with the reality that he is losing her or him and has never been able to tell her (him) his true feelings and everything he feels for them. If he were to do that he would look weak and god knows you don’t think weak when it comes to the Gallagher brothers. But now he is trying to somehow get across to her or him those exact feelings, all the while seeing that it’s more than likely too late. I think we all endure the paradox of love and misery and the knowing that if we weren’t so afraid to expose our selves and communicate our feelings we would always be with our wonderwall.

Just a thought-nothing more.
Our narrator/singer is in cognitive reflection about his perfect love. The object of his whims only resides within the construct of his fantasized and ultimately unrequited love. This fantasy is played out in a format of duality in which he is both speaking to himself while floating the construct of his muse. In each passage our singer weaves this duality in such a way as to hide both from the audience by never stating to whom he is speaking to/or about.
:. She[he] is everything to him a lover, a savior, a friend. She (he?) represents the person he sees fitting his ideal partner.
"Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do, about you now"
Within this first passage the singer is speaking of himself. [Mirror mirror]
"Backbeat, the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now"
The biographical allegory continues with reference of forces of descending attack. The passage ends with his reinforces [ing] his self belief and that of his love (self?).
"And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you but I don't know how"
I seen this as a statement on the trials we face in our lives. The self-doubt, negative opinions, and just all the crap. Again, he has need to talk to himself ("-like to say to you-") that too hidden in the object of his ethereal muse.
In the end he realizes that his muse is himself, he is his wonderwall. His muse does in fact save him in being his reach or crutch for comfort & love so too his muse is his wonderwall. -
This is a song about the singer's thoughts on The Beatles. The music video is a BIG giveaway.
Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
(The Beatles are now a thing of the past. The singer wants their memory to live on, but no one wants to remember them in the way that he does.)
Backbeat the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now
(Others have tried to keep The Beatles' memory alive, but the spark of inspiration has burnt out, thus the singer believes he can revive this spark.)
And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you but
I don't know how
(The singer doesn't know how to keep The Beatles' memory alive, since he's young and of another time. He doesn't know what the appropriate response would be to remembering them. Hence, "There are things that I would like to say to you, but don't know how.")
Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
(Yet, despite the singer's frustration with keeping The Beatles' memory alive, he still views them as his single source of inspiration - his muse.)
Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now
(Today is the day the singer feels The Beatles will truly be appreciated, still, no one has yet to fully embrace The Beatles' true legacy.) -
I believe this song means this man feels deeply in love with the object of his desire. He feels the need to be saved by her but the fire in her heart is out.
She can't get close to him, and needs to move on. She can't save him, she needs to save herself. -
It's about a person who will save you from yourself. It's not my fancy, it's what Oasis themselves say - I read it somewhere. And I perfectly understand that! But it's really hard to explain... well, it's like this person will save you from your old ways and help you become better. That's why wall - protection, I guess...
-
When I hear this song I simply think that the person the song is coming from is madly in love with someone but the other person does not see it or they do not feel the same way.

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed that his most famous song was not written about his ex-wife, Meg Mathews. Speaking in a documentary to be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 this weekend, the guitarist - who writes much of the band's material - said people wrongly assumed the hit single Wonderwall was about Mathews. "The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it," said Gallagher. "And how do you tell your Mrs it's not about her once she's read it is? It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself."
here is the link of it so yeah everybody who thinks it was a lovesong.. im sorry haha : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2337721.stm -
Honestly, it sounds like this song is about a guy being in love with a girl who committed suicide...
"Today is gonna be the day
when they're gonna throw it back to you."
People making fun of her, throwing her mistakes in her face.
"By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do"
Her coming to the conclusion that suicide is her "only option" supposedly.
"And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding"
Life is hard. Simple as that. It's been a long journey to get to the place we are now.
"Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall"
Possibly he was considering suicide himself, but loving her made him realize that life is worth living.
"Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you"
Those people aren't going to have the chance to tease/berate/make fun of her again now that she's gone.
"By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do"
Maybe she regretted her decision after it was already too late for her to turn back.
This is just my interpretation simply based on the lyrics, but... I could be wrong! -
this song is about anybody who is going through life with other relationships but deep down inside he cant forget his first love who he of she kinda keeps in touch with. and know the day will come for them to be together... maybe
-
Just another Crazy Fangirl's interpretation.
(:D LOL)
to me, it's something different.
i believe that he (the boy) is hopeless, and needs someone to save him. In the end, he believes the girl (his friend) will help him, and be his "Wonderwall". The path to get there is difficult, and she faces obstacles to get to him,and save him from suicide. Beautiful song. Sorry for the bad interpretation, I am supposed to be doing homework and got sidetracked LOL. :D (There NEEDS!! to be more songs like this. I <3 Oasis) -
I remember the first time I heard this song, back when it first came out, it sounded like it had a huge Beatle message to it. At the time, there were a lot of people inside the industry that were appalled the Beatles were selling out, by doing the Anthology, though nobody really knew George was sick, and wanted financial security for his family, before his death. The term Wonderwall, refers to the Harrison song, and how heavily influenced the brothers were by the Beatles, as were most. The Beatles being their Wonderwall. The back beat reference, and the word on street that the fire in your heart is out, refer to George selling out, by agreeing to do the anthology, and the throw it back to you, meaning true fans will reject it, since the Beatles were always thought to be above such packaged product. They are puzzled that after so many winding roads (years), and blinding lights (fame), they would resort to this huge sell, jeopardizing their integrity. Though the writer knows that some will never feel the same way about the band, the band still remains the writers Wonderwall, and has unconditional love for them. Very cleverly written, and pretty bold of them to tackle. At least John would have thought so.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
there is no real interpretation of this song. it was meant for you to have ur own personal meaning for it. thats why everyone loves it. it holds its own special meaning in our minds and hearts. take the meaning of this song however u want.we all have our own:)
-
Everyone has a different interpretation on a song, it's just how you view it and what situation you're in. All songs are like that. To me, it means he's trying to help her and she doesn't understand that it's because he loves her, and she gets angry with him. He doesn't know how to express his love for her because it's ineffable, and he feels as though she won't understand if he tries. And once she realizes she should've listened to him, she loves him, too. They save eachother from themselves.
