Oasis: Whatever Meaning
Song Released: 1994
Whatever Lyrics
Whatever I choose
And I'll sing the blues if I want
I'm free to say whatever I
Whatever I like
If it's wrong or right it's alright
It always seems to me
You always see what people want you to see
How...

I believe this song is about pressure from around you. When Noel returned from being a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets his dad decided that he wanted Noel to work with him. However Noel wanted to join Liam's band. "And I'll sing the blues if I want" is a reference to this because he's telling his dad that he's not going to be pushed around and he's going to be a musician.
Also "Here in my mind
You know you might find
Something that you
You thought you once knew
But now it's all gone" shows that Noel has never felt close with his dad, "something" implies that there weren't a lot of similarities in the first place but "now it's all gone" shows that anything they had in common or anything Noel's dad knew about him had entirely changed, and he wasn't going to be pushed around any more. This is just the interpretation I drew from it but I do know that this song was written before Noel joined The Rain (the name of Oasis before Noel joined).
