Of Monsters and Men: Hunger Meaning
Hunger Lyrics
But my lungs feel so small
I couldn't breathe if I tried
I lay my head on the floor
My beating heart wanted more
But I'll keep it in and keep you out
I'm drowning, I'm drowning
I'm drowning, I'm drowning
But...

The song imo is basically about a breakup, finally letting go of a relationship.
The girl has always tried to keep the relationship intact even though she knew it's hardly possible at the time. ("But for the longest time I knew" verse)
The hardest thing, though, was moving on and this can be noticed in the symbolism of the first verse and the strain in her voice when she utters the lines "I'm drowning"
The hunger is not one for food but one for a relationship, a new relationship ("But this hunger it isn't you")
The main reason why she actually hates the relationship is because of the absence of "sound" from her partner and when he does speak, they are "somber tunes"
She's "the wolf" because she hardly leaves the pack
