   My interpretation of this song is that One Direction as a Band are in the prime of their musical career and they are enjoying all the hardwork,success and fame that accompanies it and someday even though they'll have to walk away because they wont sing forever and will have other priorities they wont regret it and the experience,the love from fans will be a treasured part of their lives and they hope that who people listened to their music and appreciated it will remember them as a fond memory no matter distant in the past.

   In response to the interpretation that begins: "this song is about us directioners..." What you explained there was the entirety of the song. I believe Morrissey from the 80's alternative rock group "The Smiths" could easily have told this entire song's meaning through little more than a couple lines.
   If the reason you like this song in particular of One Direction's is the "deep" meanings the lyrics behold, may I recommend listening to The Who, The Smiths, (Obviously) The Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Lynyrd Skynyrd etc...

   Im not really good at interpreting lyrics, but.. if you have a wattpad, look up the user @lovemenarry_ & look up her story "Georgia Rose" . You will never see this song the same again, youll probably be in tears. Its really deep.

   This song is about us directioners, how they danced with one of us all night and it was the 'best song ever' because it was us and we support them, but they can't remember the words because they were so distracted by us. Louis says 'you know I know you know I'll remember you/ you'll remember me. He's saying we'll both remember each other but we cant show it because One Direction are too busy/famous to see them again. People who say this song is stupid it actually has a really deep meaning, for the people who can dig it out.

   They met a girl who stole their heart; they liked her so much maybe that when they danced, everything became special at that moment, since they were dancing with that special girl so the song they danced to at that memorable moment became the best song ever, because even though they couldn't remember the song particularly, the song would still bring back that memory they had with the best girl ever. Therefore, the girl was the reason why the song was the best song ever even if they had no memory about the song heh :)

   I think this song is about a girl that they met and they both liked a certain song and they danced 'all night' to that song. It was probably a one night stand ('Maybe it's the way she walked, straight into my heart and stole it....' 'I said can you give it back to me? She said never in your wildest dreams') but he will never forget that night and he hopes that she won't forget it either ('And I know, you know, I hope you'll remember how we danced')

    When louis sings "I know you know i know il remmber you cause you know i know you know you'll remmber me" I think he meant us DIRECTIONERS and about the contract running out when their not famouse any more they know they will never forget us because they say without us they wouldn't be where they are. And about how they changed us and saved us from our selfs. "We danced all night to the best song ever" About us dancing to their songs and listining to it all the times. "We knew every line now i can't remmber" is also about the contract with the mangment running out and that we always know their songs lyrics but we wont remmber it any more because our memory will start to fail at it. I just relized all this omg.
