One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks) Lyrics

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about STALKING SOMEONE. If you read the lyrics carefully...
One way, or another, I'm gonna FIND YA,
I'm gonna GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA,
One way, or another, I'm gonna win ya,
I'm gonna GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA GETCHA
And so forth, until we arrive at something other than the chorusy stuff...
I WILL DRIVE PAST YOUR HOUSE
AND IF THE LIGHTS ARE ALL DOWN
I'LL SEE WHO'S AROUND
And...
AND IF THE LIGHTS ARE ALL OUT
I'LL FOLLOW YOUR BUS DOWNTOWN
SEE WHO'S HANGING OUT
See what I mean? This should be another part of the song:
One way, or another, I'm gonna stalk ya,
I'm gonna stalk ya stalk ya stalk ya stalk ya stalk ya!
Sorry if I sound offensive, I'm not trying to be- Trust me. But... It disturbs me a bit. -
As others have mentioned, this was a song Blondie and Debbie Harry wrote together more than 40 years ago. Debbie has been quoted as saying that the process of writing and performing the lyrics was a kind of therapy of self-empowerment after having been stalked repeatedly by a nut job at the time.
One Direction covering this makes little to no sense at all, even if they did like it, as the song's meaning and power are inextricably linked to a woman performing the song as a kind of contemptuous ridiculing of stalker behavior to disempower men that engage in this behavior. For guys to perform it kind of peels back all the nuances and meaning of the song itself that come from that juxtaposition. I have no idea if their performance of it is technically good, never listened to it, it's just incredibly ill thought out to cover this song of all songs, as a boy band (though I suppose as a boy band, they definitely would have experience with stalkers, so there's that). Listen and especially watch Blondie's original performances circa 1979-1981 and you will understand it. -
*Cough* *Cough* stalking *Cough* *Cough* plus 1d didn't write this song Blondie did they just liked and did a cover of it and it was for red nose day.

The Directioner anthem!
"I will drive past your house...."
"I'm gonna find ya I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha"
I'm pretty sure the boys chose this as their Red Nose Day single because they thought it'd be ironic...
I mean let's face it, us Directioners are like stealth stalkers :P -
i think it means a guy met a girl and doesnt know who she is or where she lives. but he wants to know so he tries to find her and just wants to love ehr and hold her.
