OneRepublic: Love Runs Out Meaning
Song Released: 2014
Love Runs Out Lyrics
I'll be the bright and black that's making you run.
And I feel alright, and we'll feel alright,
'Cause we'll work it out, yeah we'll work it out.
I'll be doin' this, if you ever doubt,
'til...
-
I think this song is written from the perspective of "loving" someone until you decide not to anymore.. Knowing you can be someone's (light, match, burning sun) but also knowing you can stop at anytime..
-
Personally, I'm not entirely sure what he's getting at with the religious connections (and I'm Christian).
The main part of the song I understood was "Oh, we all want the same thing.
Oh, we all run for something.
run for God, for fate,
For love, for hate,
For gold, for rust,
For diamonds, for dust."
To me this talks about the struggle that everyone goes through in life, religious or not, to find something that gives their life meaning and to chase after that thing, whether it's God, fate, money, etc.
I think he may also be speaking AS that something for some of the song, when he's saying
"I'll be your light, your match, your burning sun,
I'll be the bright, in black that's makin' you run."
how we all have something we're chasing that we expect will solve all our problems when we catch up to it. Of course Jesus is the only thing that can actually provide this, but other people fill this blank with lots of other things.
Also, I found this song on this awesome video you may want to check out ;D

I think the key to the song is: I will be your light your fire etc. I think it is prophetic, he says we will be like one. Look up the book of Revelations. Til the love runs out.
-
I think it about dealing a double life. Clearly his mom the alcoholic and strong woman made him confused. He is aware he has a problem. He is going to keep doing what he is doing until he gets to rock bottom and runs out of love to his mama and himself. Then he may have a reason to chose a different path..
-
I agree with the first. Religious interpretations are obvious in the video. Watch the video and than search for the book of revelations.
-
I don't agree with the last two opinions because The over all song is positive and not in a negative tone. It speaks more of perseverance and fighting for the relationship until there is nothing left to fight for anymore. It speaks of being inspiration and motivation for that other person involved and assures them that if they have any doubt they will keep working at it.
-
I agree with this person. he is saying that he is giving all his love but eventually his love will love out.
-
It's about giving a relationship all you got but then running out of love.
I've been running (out of love), I've been running (out of love), til the love runs out.
