Penelope Scott: Hammerhead Meaning
Hammerhead Lyrics
Is that I'm never coming home
And I'm sorry that I didn't tell you so
I'm gonna go and get an internship
And then I'll get a job
And then I'll pack all of my shit up
And fucking go
I'll go to Mexico
I'll go to...

One person's personal interpretation: You care for the ones you left behind and miss them, but leaving them was necessary for you to move on with your life and to just have a better mental health. The money and pictures mentioned in the song represent keeping in touch and longing for a relationship. The smoke added to the sky mentioned in the song refers to just wanting to give up. "Just for the fleeting joy I'd get from adding more smoke to the sky". Basically, she feels like it a lost cause.
