Pierce the Veil: I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket Meaning
I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket Lyrics
Dry but the taste of blood remains (of blood remains)
Cold, empty mattresses and falling stars
My, how they start to look the same
So keep in happiness
And torture me while I tell...
-
The title is a quote from Wayne’s World 2, the scene where Garth goes to his gf’s place for the first time. She says “take me Garth” nd he says “where? I’m low on gas and you need a jacket”…

My Personal Interpretation:
A guy is dating this girl and he really loves her even though she uses him. He is really tired of her shit but is not willing to lose her. So, she going out and getting drunk at parties and cheating on him while he's alone and trying to convince himself that she good for him. In the middle of the night she calls him telling him how she got in a whole heap of trouble and needs his help... and he realizes everything that she's doing to him and that he was living off her lies.
disclaimer: this is not the definite meaning of the song, this is just personal interpretation. -
I think that this song is about a guy who is sick of running around, trying to look after the girl, who doesn't appreciate him.
The title 'I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket', means I have enough problems without you calling me to come and give you your 'jacket' or running after her.
'Choke, try to wash you down with something strong', he's trying to find solace at the bottom of the bottle.
'Cold empty mattresses and falling stars, my how they start to look the same', is how long he's been alone, while she's at her parties, and how often he's just stared at the stars: so often that they start to look the same.
Overall, it's about a boy who can't get over a girl, even though she's just using him, and doesn't care about him at all. About midway, he starts moving on, and eventually sees that he doesn't need her. -
I also submitted the reviews on Feb. 11th, but hmm...Maybe it means he was tired of her crap so he killed her.
-
I'm the person who submitted the review about the girl needing a friend and I think actually that she committed suicide, like I said, but that the boy may be looking back and thinking that if he had answered the phone that she would still be alive, hence the sad tone of the song and the beginning which mentions blood. I think she shot herself.
-
My interpretation is "I'm low on gas," Well, what happens when your car is low on gas? It slows down. So the boy is really tired. "And you need a Jacket," The girl just needs a friend right now and after all the things that happened to her, she tries to come in contact with the boy but he's too tired of her and doesn't answer her. I think she commits suicide after no one will answer her calls, hence the beginning.
-
It is about a boy who is feeling worn out and done with everything, but his girlfriend keeps asking for hints and he's trying to explain he's just too tired to keep doing this for her
