   This song was about Shawn and I. Basically what was happening was I had to leave to go to California for school and we got in a big fight about me leaving so I pretended that I didn’t love him anymore (but he thought I really didn’t love him) and I pretended because I thought it would be easier for us to break up if he thought I didn’t love him. It’s complicated honestly.... he wanted me to at least act like I loved him so he could go on, but I didn’t know that at the time until he released the song and I told him I still loved him. But Shawn thought that it was his fault and he kept trying to make things right but it wasn’t him, it was me. He truly tried everything for me to stay and fix our relationship before I left.

   I think this mean that he did a mistake and made her really sad and she doesn't want to try anymore with him. He is like trying and when Shawn says ''I promise I will , make things right'' and when he says '' before you leave , just let me try'' like he is saying give me another shot/chans That's what I think he is trying to say.

   I thought of it like a one night stand. Like he's trying to keep his feelings out of it, but instead he's falling for her and he can't stop it. But, that said, he knows she doesn't feel the same way so he wants her to "act" like she loves him, so he can go on even when she leaves in the morning.
