Shawn Mendes: In My Blood Meaning
Song Released: 2018
In My Blood Lyrics
Sometimes I feel like giving up
But I just can't
It isn't in my blood
Laying on the bathroom floor, feeling nothing
I'm overwhelmed and insecure, give me something
I could take to ease my mind...

#1 top rated interpretation:As Shawn had mentioned In my Blood is one of the most personal songs he has written and it’s the closest to him which is probably why he released it first looking at the lyrics he’s saying sometimes I feel like giving up but I just can’t it isn’t in my blood meaning although sometimes he feels like giving up he never will because he knows he is strong enough to get through anything this song i feel like is about his mental health as he brings up drinking but at the same time he feels as though he should give up

#2 top rated interpretation:Shawn said in a interview that In My Blood is about his struggles with anxiety,
there's a mention to his drinking problem in the song as well,
Shawn has struggle with anxiety for many years,
he said that it does get to a point when he just wants to give up,
but that is what the song is about,
overcoming anxiety,
not giving up, -

#3 top rated interpretation:So I feel this song-like the first theory- is definitely about mental health and honestly I think he’s finally addressing a possible internal fight with coming to terms to sexuality. If whatever he is talking about is constantly burning at him then everything he’s talking about doing like alcohol and drugs are numbing solutions.IE: “just take her home and you’ll feel better”

I thinks it's about the struggles of life and overcoming them, but that it's also that human desire of needing and wanting someone by your side while you go through them.
I connect to this song in so many ways. The lyrics are what many feel. -
I think In My Blood is about the dark times and places we all experience in our lifetimes. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, and one can feel trapped, alone, frightened with no answers or end in sight. But if we are hopeful and determined even in the face of anxiety and weakness, then we can get through to the other side where things make sense again. It’s the human condition where it’s always the darkest before the dawn. All of us, if honest, can relate to the emotions expressed and the belief that we are all capable of rising up again in light and hope.

I'm not assuming how the writer felt when he wrote this song, that is obviously ridiculous. However, mabye the song is about the writer thinking "giving up" but then he remembers the struggles his ancestors went through. So, he continues to fight his mental health problems for if they could go through times where life was much harder, he can go through his problems too. After all, the song's title and chorus read, "In my blood," not "In My Mind," "In My Soul," nor "In My Heart," it says, "In My Blood," and blood often represents your heritage, such as in words like "bloodline."

It's about not killing himself because he's struggling.

This song I would say is about his struggles with anxiety and othe forms of mental health. And how he’s had to tackle these throughout his career. As many people don’t understand what it feels like he’s expressed his elf through this music to show us how he really feels and how others feel
