#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about commercial music. The words 'freak out and give in doesnt matter what you beleive in' relates to selling out regardless of moral value. The chorus, 'who wants honey as long as there is soome money' mentions how mainstream can bring 'the sweet life' as long as the record label make money. The bridge: 'let me out' being repeated says that he wants to get out of an industry that is more focused on money than actual music

This song is ALL about chrystal Meth. The honey is the melted meth that has been burnt to a honey colour that is sitting in the bat witch is the pipe used. "Who want honey as long as there's some money, who want that honey, let me out! "

I agree with the anonymous dude at the top. It's pretty much a "fuck you" song. :P

The song is
about the hipster bands that didn't like them! This song is Billy's Fuck you to them. -
This song is about a woman. It is not about Courtney Love. This woman is powerful and very popular. She is also very righteous and bold and can turn any record into gold. Yes, Cherub Rock is about the music industry, but there are some sweet "secrets" this particular woman has that everybody wants. The snarl of Billy Corgan in this song obviously says that he missed out getting a hold of this "honey."

Billy corgain had a dream that there were cherubs playing rock music in honey pools for money. And when he woke up he wrote the lyrics.
-
This song is about being pissed off at the indie rock community.
