Sum 41: So Long, GoodBye Meaning
So Long, GoodBye Lyrics
You've left us now but we're not alone
Before you know it your cups overflown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe...

This song has several meanings. Its meant to apply to your own case and how you feel the song effects you. To me this song is about a loved one who has passed away. "Time passes by, direction unknown" means that while your living you don't know what you're striving for and it all flies by. "Before you know it you're cup's overflown" meaning the same thing as time flies by and before you it, it is your time to go. " You've left us now, but we're not alone" which means that they're gone but will always be in your heart. "Goodbye for now" Is saying that they're gone for now, but you will see them again, in heaven. And of course "So long goodbye" just saying good bye to them.

This song is so obviously about Dave. He was a member of the band, but left to pursue other options, in his musical career. It's saying that he still loves him, and will always miss him, and yeah it may be goodbye for now, but not forever.

It's about saying good bye to a member of their band but it can also apply to any situation where someone is leaving
