The Neighbourhood - Fallen Star Meaning

Fallen Star Lyrics
I'll keep you far away, from me like a star
Hard not to fall for you, I gave you all my heart
Further apart, the closer, the closer, the closer that we are
Tryna find the right time to tell you what you...
-
I think this song is about two childhood bestfriends. Who feel like the closer that they are, they still feel distant. That's why one admires from afar, like we admire a star. He doesn't want to fall for her, but emotions are uncontrollable. This is just a guess though.
-
In my opinion, this song is about a failing relationship in which he wants really badly to have saved, but realized in the end that the distance brings fondness and it's in their best interest to keep in contact but not as close as they were before. Also they are fading lovers who cannot stay away from each other. "You're in my DNA, I can't keep away no matter how hard I try." I believe this refers to how he believes they are part of each other. Metaphorically

I think its about his gfs and his long distance relationship they had,and like they both love eachother so much and both wants to be together, and some day they end up like that exactly how he wanted too
