The Neighbourhood: Sweater Weather Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Sweater Weather Lyrics
I want the world in my hands
I hate the beach
But I stand in California
With my toes in the sand
Use the sleeves of my sweater
Let's have an adventure
Head in the clouds but my gravity's centered
Touch my neck and I'll...

#1 top rated interpretation:he meets a girl, talks to her, catches feelings, when he says “one house, just us”, it means he wants to be with her long term. he also references marijuana in the same line (one love, one house)
then he goes on to say “it’s too cold for you here” meaning california (which be mentioned at the beginning) is cold in the sense there are probably a lot of bad people, saying he wants her to stay inside with him, he wants her (her hands) to be safe under his protection and love (holes of his sweater)
so, she is protected metaphorically by the holes in his sweater, because california is maybe rough for good girls like her or something haha
this makes the most sense!! it’s not about being bisexual -

#2 top rated interpretation:Someone explain why people think this makes you bisexual. I love this song and I am bi but I don’t get it
-
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I think it’s about how the outside world is too cold and unaccepting or just where hes from, but when there together in there own little world it’s safe. “California”
“Inside this place is warm outside it starts to pour”
They could also be exploring there sexuality while in the moment but just want to stay in that little place while they can before confronting the truth of what happened hence staying on the inside where it’s warm
“No shirt no blouse just us you find out nothing that I really want to tell you about”
He also wants to keep their love a secret , and so it’s too cold outside he wants to keep her in the holes of his sweater warm and protected.
This is possibly why bisexual people could relate because the outside world is cold and unaccepting So they want to stay a secret together on the inside where “it’s warm” -
Sweater weather is a song about sex and love where a man meets a girl and catches feelings for her explaining the lyrics "she knows what I'm thinking about, one love two mouths and also one love one house. The lyrics of "And now so let me hold both of your hands in the holes shows that the loyalty and faithfulness that he has for her. Now the sexual part "inside this place is warm outside it starts to pour" is that the guy has sex with her and her pussy is warm and he came inside of her explaining the "outside it starts to pour"

Okay, the reason i think its bisexual is because you could be a girl and the song is about the author taking care of the said lover.
Vise versa -
I think this song is about being in love with someone and loving them so much they just become the other half of you hinting the "she knows what I think about, and what I think about and what I think about." and the lover being their safe place or their home so they holding them closely. Also caring for them.
-
i interpreted it as a guy being in love with a woman and a man at the same time. "You" being a man and "she" being a woman.
At the end of the chorus, he says "hold both your hands, in the holes of my sweater" probably hinting that "both hands" are hands of 2 different people.
-
Right I listen to it but I’m straight but like I get bullied for it saying I have to be lesbian to or bi but I see women not in that way at all

Y’all be saying this is about fingering and shit. Stop over analyzing. it’s obviously about drugs and of course, love

Sweater Weather is about an ambitious man who hates the pressures of living in California. He meets a girl while smoking weed. She isnt dressed for the weather. He may be trying to determine whether or not the girl has dressed that way just to have a reason to get close to him, or if she wants more than just sex. He may already have someone, as he explains during the first part of the chorus... but then, in the present, he tells her it's too cold for you here, let me hold both your hands in the holes of his sweater. I dont detect anything gay or bisexual but I guess it could be interpreted that way, especially if you are gay or bi.
-
I would guess “You” and “She” are different people. “You” being a guy is my best guess getting the reference that this is “the Bi anthem”. I’m Bi and I love this song personally.
The guy is dating a girl from California but he might have been cheating on her with “You” a guy he smokes weed with.
I would guess too it’s about intercourse, but who knows.
-
i think it's about sex. the passionate, raw kind. you can hear panting during the chorus and the lyrics heavily suggest this too. as a bi individual, i don't understand where the bi connotations for this song come from. it's not really suggested in the lyrics, so it must be something to do with the band or an individual in it.
-
Clearly this song is about a guy who likes to smoke, and forget about things. He meets someone ( perhaps a female) and he can’t imagine being with her because he lives in a beat up old town. They end up having sex, and smoking their pains away. I mean i could be really see the bisexual in all of this, but that’s my interpretation
-
I think that this song is about a guy who is so in love with a girl, but this girl has a completely different life then him. Even though they have different lives they are in love and having sex. I can also see how people are seeing pot as a part of this song, but I don’t get why it’s a bi anthem.
-
i feel like he’s not talking about anything sexual or even a girl. since everybody is saying this song is the bi anthem, and that this song makes people bi, maybe the guy is bi and he’s actually talking about a guy
-
I believe this song is about a guy who wants to be great and has large dreams as is made clear in the lyrics: “I want the world in my hand” and “My head’s in the cloud” however he follows up the latter with “But my gravity’s centered”.
I thinks it’s about a guy who moves from a small cold town to California in hopes of becoming great. And he holds onto memories of his past and of someone he loved to keep him down to earth so he can avoid losing himself in the search for success. -
I think it is about sex, but not in the dirty way you might think. I believe it's more about raw passion between two people who are desperately in love. I think it's about a guy realising he needs this woman. Not necessarily in a sexual sense, but also in she's his emotional crutch, someone he could share anything with ("nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about.)
In summary, I think it's about two people in a serious relationship and the guy saying how much he needs this girl.
