Three Days Grace: Break Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Break Lyrics
I need something to pick me up
I've tried but nothing is working
I won't stop, I won't say I've had enough
Tonight I start the fire
Tonight I break away
Break away from everybody
Break away from...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song means like breaking free and feeling free to do whatever you want. in the song he says "go to higher places". i dont think that means getting high. i think that means living a better life. if you don't like the way things are right now, change it. if you don't like where you live, move. I think this song is just about making a change.

I personally love this song. I really relate to my interpretation of it. Which is that, life sucks. But if you can find *something* then maybe you could finally be happy. You’ll be able to rise above all those terrible feelings and feel something other loneliness, emptiness, and the cold. And I know this sounds dramatic, but that’s just how the world is.

I think this song is about someone tired of how things are, and is trying to get away. Thus, "Break" was created.

This song is about drugs, "tonight my head is spinning"
'My head is spinning' is a phrase that is used to describe that you are confused,
"I need something to pick me up"
So we can tell that he is confused because of some sort of negative event, a break up, a fight, something that has him depressed and confused,
Also he is saying that he needs some thing to pick me up, and some drugs (e.g. Marijuana) make the user feel happy or 'pick them up'.
"I've tried but nothing is working"
He has exhausted all other options to make himself happy,
"I won't stop"
He has decided to do the drug and he won't stop using it to make him feel better, many drug users have friends and or family members telling them they need to stop taking whatever they are taking or they will tell them they have had enough, but he says he doesn't feel like it's a problem "I won't say I had enough"
"Tonight I start the fire,
Tonight I break away"
Hes starting the fire by smoking the drug in question, and when he says 'tonight I. break away' he's talking about escaping reality.
Later on he says 'we' instead if I meaning that he's escaping reality with another person.
The chorus can be interpreted literally,
Basically saying use drugs to escape the bad things in your life,
"At night I feel like a vampire"
He's usually awake at night, either from drug use, or what I think is more likely is that his problems cause him insomnia and the drugs help him sleep. -
For me it means to be yourself no matter what anybody thinks. Think about it "Break away from everybody". I even use a line when someone is calling me and my friends weird for being different. "If you can't stand the way this place is, take yourself to higher places" like how people today think that if it's popular, it's high up and better or if they think that they're better than you. It's a bunch of BS, but I digress.

I've heard statements supposedly from the band that the song is about breaking away from whatever it is you're stuck in, and how it's up to you to make a change, should you decide to make a change. Regardless, it's an awesome song!

This is an amazing song, I have nothing else to say but that for me, I find that it means that they are trying to get away from the other people, so pretty much, the press and the world that everyone is stuck in, the one where we are all brainwashed by money and howits the most important thing in the world.
They just want to be far from that world, live life well. -
I know that alot of Three days graces songs are about Adam's addiction. This one fits that for me. Like he sings if you can't stand the way this place is take yourself to 'higher places'. Meaning take yourself away from it, get high, literally. "I need something to pick me up" at times drugs can pick you up. He also puts it in there so obvious its almost not, when he sings "Ill try to get myself higher" tjara the only way to escape realriy for him.

break is about partly about meth use, because I was addicted to meth and the verse "At night I feel like a vampire
It's not right but I just can't give it up
I'll try to get myself higher
Let's go we're gonna light it up" Meth makes you stay up for days like vampires never sleep until daylight and when you come down from meth all you do is sleep, and while you are on a binge you smoke more and more to get higher and also people on meth must break away from everyone that does'nt like it because of the harsh prison terms and societies views on the drug. -
This song is about breaking away from things obviously but how is the question. My opinion would be from drug use OR from cutting. I think this because of the lines
At night I feel like a vampire
Its not right
But I just can't give it up
I hope that I am not wrong and that I helped -
This song is about letting go and just freaking out.... possibly on a drug binge. This part really seems to solidify the fact:
"At night I feel like a vampire
It's not right but I just can't give it up
I'll try to get myself higher
Let's go we're gonna light it up"
However, the song is also about bettering yourself. Such as:
"Break away from everybody
Break away from everything
If you can't stand the way this place is
Take yourself to higher places"
Break away from all the things that can hold you back and try to make yourself better. -
this song is genuinly about getting away "break away from everybody. break away from everything" its about breaking away from everybody and everything, breaking away from everyones daily routines. its also got a double meaning about getting high, which can be used to break away
