Three Days Grace: Get Out Alive Meaning
Get Out Alive Lyrics
As he faded away
Don't put your life in someone's hands
They're bound to steal it away
Don't hide your mistakes
'Cause they'll find you, burn you
Then he said
If you want to get out alive
Hold on for your...

#1 top rated interpretation:Maybe the song is about drugs or some other addiction but for me it sounds like the Holocaust, too. Like it's telling a story.
"No time for goodbye," he said as he faded away. "Don't put your life in someone's hands, they're bound to take it away." Then he said; "If you want to get out alive, run for your life."
That reminds me of the Nazi raids on the ghettos and the man speaking was shot or badly wounded somehow and is dying, talking to a friend or loved one. And he's telling them to run from the Nazis.
"This is my last time," she said as she faded away. "It's hard to imagine, but one day you'll end up like me." Then she said; "If you want to get out alive, run for your life."
This reminds me of when the Jews were taken to labor camps and the woman is probably frail, dying from starvation and abuse and she wants the person she's talking to try to get away to save their life.
"If I stay, it won't be long before I'm burning on the inside. If I go, I can only hope I will make it to the other side."
This sounds like the narator of the song has seen many people die and it's tearing him apart inside. He wants to escape but he doesn't know if he can make it without getting killed. That's what it means to me. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I believe this song is more about not wasting your life. The phrase get out alive...run for your life means to run from the hatred and decet of the world. And it says dont hide your mistakes meaning to come clean and dont lie or it might just be your downfall. I believe this song is directed at the audience telling them to live a better life free of lies and hatred.

#3 top rated interpretation:I think it's about an abusive relationship honestly. I think its about a mom and a dad with a daughter and the mom is constantly abused and in the lyrics "as he faded away" maybe he left his family the lyrics of "if you want to get out alive oh..oh run for your life" maybe its a metaphor for getting out of the situation and the lyrics "its hard to imagine but one day you'll end up like me" maybe the mom is trying to influence her daughter and put a spark in her mind as of "HEY DONT DO WHAT I DID" etc etc

To me I feel like this song deals with the struggles of going through A panic or anxiety attack. With the name, get out alive, And more the lyrics give you the sense that something bad might happen, And that the best course of action will be a run for it.

I think this music is about suicide,
The man who says "no time for goodbye (...)" faded away (died) but left his last words.
The same happens with the woman, who knews she would die too ("this is my last time"), and also thought that the singer would end up like her ("one day, you'll end up like me").
"If you want to get out alive, run for your life", I interpretate this part as a advice for the singer, like "fix yourself before it becomes impossible"
The one singing this song says that he won't stay long (maybe in this life) cause he's burning on the inside (being destroyed from inside out).
And if he goes (for the afterlife) he hopes that he'll make it to the other side (be happy there).
As a huge fan of TDG, but a non native speaker, I don't know all the idioms and cultural symbols of the native speakers, so please, correct me if I'm wrong.
TDG 4 ever! -

I think this song is about seeing how society is and wanting to be yourself in a world where that is looked down upon and "if you wanna get out alive, run for your life" means that you should ignore society's 'trends' and do your own thing so you don't turn out like everybody else.

I personally The song starts off with a girl who is just being left in the rain you can assume this from
When this line is sung:
"No Time For Goodbye"
He wants to leave her life
And when this line is sung:
"He said as he Faded away"
It can be assumed that he is disappearing into fog which blocks her view from him.
He then when this line is sung:
"If you want to get out alive oh-oh run for you life."
It is assumed that drug abuse or self harm or alcohol abuse or some problem in her life he doesn't want to help her with is the reason he is leaving her.
The Chorus states her remembering him saying that as she begins to grow up without him.
The girl has found a new lover throughout the chrous
But she still has the problem in her life, and her first lover leaving her adds to her problem her new lover rushes into her house to find her in a pool of blood with a blade on the ground, due to cutting a vein on accident,
When he approaches her she says "This is my last time"
As This is her last day, last, year, last minute, last heartache, last breath
When the line is sung:
"She said as she Faded Away"
Which means the life fades out of her body.
When the line is sung "It's hard to imangine but one day you'll end like me" its the boyfriend stating this isnt his first time having a love one commit suicide.
As the Chorus goes by it shows the boy starting to change to the pain of losing
Her.
Now he is compensating Suicide
As shown in the line
"If I stay It won't be long till I burn in on the inside"
By saying "Burning on the inside"
He means he will consumed by Pain
Then what else shows that is is compensating
"If I go then I hope to make it to the other side"
As he means he will commit suicide and hope to make it to heaven.
The ending lines sung
"Burning on the inside"
Shows he has made his decision that he will stay alive but he is forever haunted by his pain, and will eventually probably commit suicide.
What do you guys think!? -
This kind of strikes me as maybe someone getting over something akin to self harm or an addiction. They know a few people who are in the same boat as them but they end up dead because of the harm or addiction, and their deaths warn the singer to get out while they still can, or to "get out alive"

Reminds me of being put in a cage and having to fight for your life. Whether the cage is mental or physical the person/thing in that cage better get the hell out because it will lose if it doesn't get a move on. When the girl says its her last time I think she means that its her last time fighting and she lost the final battle. When he says "don't hide your mistakes because they'll find you, burn you" I think he means that every mistake made will cost you a huge part of your battle with yourself or opponent. That's what I think this song means

I think it's about heroin use. When I decided to come off of heroin, I listened to this song every day. It reminded me that I do in fact want to get out alive--I don't want a heroin overdose to kill me. The fading away part I attributed to "nodding out" which is something you do when you use heroin (almost the best part I might add). The part about putting your life in someone's hands and them giving it away--misery loves company. I had to drop basically all of the people I was associated with because they will pull you back in to have someone to party with, to share the bill, etc. I know that this song can be interpreted in many ways, but to me it's about getting out of that life style as quickly as you can and never, ever looking back.
-
To me this song reminds me of drug use, but also someone who's made alot of mistakes, and is afraid of what their future holds, and they think that if they run from it, then everything will get better
-
I think it's about 3 peps that are being targeted by bad people and are running away from them. The man and woman are killed, and he remains running from whatever it is. It kinda suits the Hunger Games if you think about it. 2 of his allies died and they want him to win. They are saying he needs to run for life. "till im burning on the inside" he gets corrupted and starts killing or he dies or he gets injured, ect. "i can only hope, that i make it to the other side" he starts killing, and hope that he can return home still himself.
So i think it realates pretty well o the Hunger Games.:) -

This song is basically about my life. Physically and mentally. I've had things very tough on several occasions and I've always had to make do or die choices. But the song also correlates to a memory I have. I live in the woods, and one night I was about 5 miles out of my house. Insomnia makes you do stupid things. But then a car came, and long story short, I had a chunk missing out my my leg. I could barely walk, and then the various bears and coyotes decided I was fair game. I played this song on full blast and ran for my life, bleeding, muddy and sweaty, and made it home before the infection look my leg and before I became too exhausted to fight off coyotes.

This may sound totally weird, but somebody wrote about Teen Titans so it can't get much worse. This reminds me of the video game "Dead Space."
Of course, I don't think Three Days Grace wrote this song about a video game, but it gives me the idea of running away from a kind of corruption.
So in a way, everyone might be right. Drugs are corrupting society, as are many other things.
Several lines give me this impression.
"As he faded away" People are fading away, giving in to the corruption.
"One day you'll end up like me" Sooner or later, almost everyone gives in to the corruption.
"If I stay, it won't long until I'm burning on the inside" Sometimes, it "burns me up inside" that I can't do anything about the corrupted state of the world.
"If you want to Get Out Alive, go run for your life." The ones who "get out alive" are the ones who manage to stay true to themselves in the midst of the corruption. -
this song i believe is anout drugs and trying to escape from them.
"No time for goodbye he said as he faded away" Is saying how a person will just drop dead without time to say goodbye to all his loved ones before his time is up. "Don't put your life in someone's hands they're bound to steal it away" Is about a drug dealer. as we all know a drug deal is a dangerous thing. If the dealer believes your wired or any other threat they will kill you.
I'm going to skip the chorus right now for later.
"This is my last time she said as she faded away" Refers back to dropping dead only with someone this time. "It's hard to imagine that one day you'll end up like me" talks about how if the person not dying contiues with the drug abuse, they will die.
"If you want to get out alive, hold on for you life" refers to if you want to quit drugs, you will have to hold on to your life because quitting is known to be dangerous and deadly if the addiction is that bad.
"If i stay, it won't be long till i'm burning on the inside" explains that if they keep using drugs, that they'll surely start dying from the inside. "If I go, I can only hope that I'll make it to the other side" again refers to the fact that you can die from quitting the drug.
This is just my opinion, though. -
lol, weird but everytime i hear this song I think of a type of suckerpunch situation... like some type of prison and the person is trying to tell them things to think about before leaving and pretty much telling them the only way to leave is to run. idk. just my thought lol
