Weezer: Back To The Shack Meaning
Song Released: 2014
Back To The Shack Lyrics
I thought I'd get a new audience, I forgot that disco sucks
I ended up with nobody and I started feeling dumb
Maybe I should play the lead guitar and Pat should play the drums
Take me...
-
Simply put, Weezer does what Weezer wants to do. This song is against selling out and is about just doing things the "old way" and just doing what they feel like doing. "If we die in obscurity, o well, at least we raised some hell". They're saying that they're not going to change just because it would benefit them at a mainstream point of view.
-
It just means Weezer wants to go back to how they were way back in the 90s
-
Sorry guys I didn't realize that I needed ou so much.
I thought I'd get a new audience,
I forgot that disco sucks.
I ended up with nobody and I started feelin' dumb.
Maybe I should play the lead guitar,
And Pat should play the drums.
Take me back,
Back to the shack,
Back to the Strat with the lightning strap.
Kick in the door,
Go hardcore,
Rockin' out like its '94.
Let's turn up the radio,
Turn off those stupid singing shows.
I know where we need to go,
Back to the shack.
I finally settled down with my girl,
And made up with my dad.
Had to go and make a few mistakes so I could find out who I am.
I'm getting all of these feelings out,
Even if it mean I fail.
Cause this is what I was meant to do,
And you can't put that on sale.
Take me back,
Back to the shack,
Back to the Strat with the lightning strap.
Kick in the door,
Go hardcore,
Rockin' out like its '94.
Let's turn up the radio,
Turn off those stupid singing shows.
I know where we need to go,
Back to the shack.
We belong in the rock world!
There is so much left to do!
If we die in obscurity,
Oh, oh,
At least we raised so hell!
Take me back,
Back to the shack,
Back to the Strat with the lightning strap.
Kick in the door,
Go hardcore,
Rockin' out like its '94.
Let's turn up the radio,
Turn off those stupid singing shows.
I know where we need to go,
Back to the shack.
Let's turn up the radio,
Turn off those stupid singing shows.
I know where we need to go,
Back to the shack.
- I'm about 99% sure this song is saying that the group is getting back to the basics on all levels and leaving the rediculous pop culture scene behind. References are made as to how the band used to be set up in the past and to be honest…this is the first Weezer song I've really enjoyed in a very long time. Any edits are welcome. I may not have heard it all correctly. Enjoy and go watch the video http://m.noisey.vice.com/blog/weezer-back-to-the-shack-video
