Pink Triangle Lyrics

When I’m stable long enough
I start to look around for love
See a sweet and floral print
My mind begins the arrangements
But when I start to feel that pull
Turns out I just pulled myself
She would never go with me
Were I the last girl on...

In Pink Triangle Rivers describes falling in love and daydreaming about a girl in one of his classes at Harvard. But when he finally finds the courage to talk to her, he discovers that she is a lesbian.

Pink Triangles are supposed to be a symbol of gay pride. Other connections the title have tied it to an image from WWII.

Well, the way i heard it is that the song is about a girl rivers met at harvard. he liked her, but found out she was a lesbian...then later, he found out she wasn't really a lesbian at all-just an avid gay-rights supported. double jip, man.

This song is based on the opera Madame Butterfly, about a lonely young rock star nursing furtive crushes on lesbians.

The above interpretation is wrong. This song is about a close girlfriend that cuomo had, and was deeply in love with, who then revealed to him that she was a lesbian. Check out Alan Cross' "The ongoing history of new Music"'s episode on rivers cuomo for more
