Weezer: Only in Dreams Meaning
Only in Dreams Lyrics
She’s in your bones.
She is your marrow, and your ride home.
You can’t avoid her.
She’s in the air.
[in the air]
And in between molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Only in dreams, you’ll see what it...

#1 top rated interpretation:I've always felt it was more about the search and ache for the perfect girl. You know, the girl you can't resist, that's all around you etc. As well as it being a statement to the fact that the perfect girl exists "only in dreams" thus when you awake "its all been erased". But that's just my feeling, more than anything, I feel the music does a lot of the talking. The fade out/backin near the end is one of the most angsty moments in any song I've ever listened to.

#2 top rated interpretation:Only in Dreams is all about Rivers' want for a girl he can't have. Whether she be too young, taken, living /across the sea/, etc... About him thinking, or dreaming about her.
Hopefully someone can come up with a better interpretation. :) -
You all have it wrong. Cuomo himself stated that this song is about his artistic process.

I believe that the interpretation of the song is more about the feelings that all of us as human beings feel as we try to accomplish some important goal or dream or interest that we have always longed for in our lives and although at somepoint we get close it always falls just out of reach. This explains why the solo in the song builds up and then reaches the climax and then falls back down. And atleast for me describes perfectly that feeling that we all feel that cannot be described by words.

i think its also imporatant to recognize how the solo builds like in a dream when you think you have the girl and everythings great, and then the solo ends quickly and you've woken up and realize it was all a lie. everyone has that one person they just couldnt be with, thats what the songs about.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
