Zac Brown Band: Colder Weather Meaning
Colder Weather Lyrics
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay,
She's answered by the tail lights
Shining through the window pane
[Chorus:]
He...

Construction workers wonder job to job seeking top dollar pay for couple more dollars they will quit one job wonder to the next (gypsie soul).
-
ramblers can also be construction workers that travel the country building america. As a construction worker its hard to be away from loved ones.
-
It's about a guy in a band, and he loves this woman, but can't be with her, she dies, and he will never forget her or stop loving her, and will be with her in another life.
-
Colder weather is a girl he can't get over. They set the tone for this with the first girl he walks out on. He says I want to see you again but I'm stuck in colder weather (his ex). He meets the next girl on the road as a truck stop diner waitress and ends up telling her the same thing as the first girl. He may be a truck driver or a traveling musician? That's irrelevant to the meaning. He finally makes it to Colorado, clearly where his former relationship was. He is with her ghost again (the girl he wont let go and what could have been haunt him and he refuses to get close to anyone again). He is holding out hope that someday soon they will be together. I don't believe she is dead.
-
She doesn't die the "ghost" is memories and "soon we'll be together" means he's going back home to her

i personally think that this song is about zac's brother, who is addicted to meth. meth is also called ice, which explains the whole "stuck in colder weather." part of the song. i also think it could be about a man that is scared of commitment & doesn't want to settle down so he leaves. what i do not understand is the ending of the song, "when i close my eyes i see you, no matter where i am. i can smell your perfume through these western pines. i'm with your ghost again, it's a shame about the weather. i know soon we'll be together & i can't wait till then. i can't wait till then." does the woman die? or does it represent a memory? i think it's a memory, but that doesn't explain the "soon we'll be together." part. i love this song though! best one they've ever had!!
-
i think this song is about a guy who is in love with a girl but he isnt sure of it yet then when he finally realizes it its to late and shes dead.
-
i think this is a song about this guy and girl that didnt work and he left her, but they both still think ab out eachother and love eachother, and right now they cant work, but he knows deep down there gonna be together one day again and til that day he cant wait..
-
Im 13 and i think i have the best meanin for this song its like us teens we allways have excuse and his excuse is the cold weather so he doesnt want to see her he loves he but he doesnt know if its true but when she dies he resizes that he did love her and want to be with her
-
I believe the methamphetamine(any drug really) theory, the blizzard is his addiction and he cant get out of it to be with his family. He doesnt want to be with them until he can get out of his addiction because he thinks he'll hurt them with it.
Colder Weather=ice=methamphetamine -
To me, the lyrics suggest that it is about a man who takes advantage of a woman's love. When she finally tells him that she wants to be with him, he leaves without her anyway. He strings her along, but as he does, her heart grows colder. Finally, he can't reach her any more and is left with his regrets. (What's sad is that he still believes that if he can just find her, she will forgive him.) I think the reference to the ghost simply means that all he has left of her is his memories. (not that she is dead)
Leaving the song open is part of its brilliance. (not saying he is a trucker, or if she dies, etc.) Great song!! -
I believe that colder weather symbolizes a point in their relationship that suggests they haven't been getting along and that the man in the relationship is saying that he is "stuck in colder weather" (or bitter) and that maybe tomorrow would be better for them to talk. The female says that he is born for leaving, that maybe he can't stay in a relationship because he was born with a gypsy soul. He will leave no matter how strong her love is and he can't help it. There are two side of the story presented and neither of them really open their eyes to how their partners view the relationship.

This song is the modern day "Desperado". Colder weather is where he is in his life. I don't think the problem is his profession (ie,truck driver)...it's just his "gypsie soul". He spends his life conflicted between committment and wandering in solitude, but in the end, the woman dies and he regrets his "colder weather" (It's a shame about the weather), and wants to be with her

This is what I've heard...
Zac Brown's brother is addicted to Meth, which is known as "ice," hence the reference to colder weather. Recently, his long time girlfriend left him because she couldn't compete with his addiction any longer.
She wants him to choose her over his addiction - "She'd trade Colorado if he'd take her with him"
However, he once again chooses the drug over her - "She's answered by the taillights shinning through the window pane."
Of course he wants to get over his addiction and be with her but can't that easily - "I want to see you again, but I'm stuck in colder weather. Maybe tomorrow will be better, can I call you then?"
It ends with him not being able to shake his addiction, but being hopeful that "they'll soon be together."
Excellent song that depicts the struggles of addiction. -
