Zac Brown Band: Colder Weather Meaning
Colder Weather Lyrics
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay,
She's answered by the tail lights
Shining through the window pane
[Chorus:]
He...

I pretty much agree with the rest of these people. I don't necessarily think it's a truck driver. I just think its about someone who loves the the girl very much but he know he's going to wind up hurting her...so he tries to leave and tells the girl he'll be back one day. And she tries to cover her pain by saying that he's just a gypsy soul and he was born for leaving anyway..just because she doesn't wanna let him know that she really does care.....thats just me
-
For me, I think it's about enormous loss. He lost that one love of his life and now can't commit his heart to anyone. He wants to, but can't. So he's a gypsy. The ghost part is the ghost of that one true love. No matter how hard he tries, no one can take her place. He finally resigns himself to the fact that he will be with her again....someday.
-
I believe this song is about two people who ultimately love one another but can not make it work. He can not/will not settle down and she would give anything to be with him. In the end, she takes her own life and that is why he speaks of being with her ghost and that they will be together soon.
-
I have different feelings on this song, but for the most part I feel it is talking about this man that loves this woman but is scared of commitment, so he leaves her behind. He can't do anything but think of her where ever he goes, in hopes of one day over coming his issues and coming back to her.
-
I think that they want you to have different ideas about the song or otherwise they would have made their point in the song.in other words, Let people think what they may about the song.
-
Actually the history behind the song is about drugs. Zac's brother was hooked on heroine and other drugs and Colorado and the colder weather refers to the feeling he got when he was high. And how he couldnt quit the habbit for anybody. The song is a dedication to his brother who died from an overdose.

It's about a trucker i mean come on it's a country song country music and trucking go hand in hand. she seen him taking off with his tail lights in the window and then he makes it to a truck stop in Lincoln then a waitress girl reminds him of his girl so he calls her and says he wants to see her but he is stuck because of the whether and maybe tomorrow will be better, can I call you then?
She says why bother you're a rambling man, you ain't ever gonna change You got a gypsy soul to blame and you were born for leaving. so he keep on trucking but can't get her out of his mind and he can smell her over the whispering pine air freshener and it's like she is their with him. her ghost. -
could be a man who lost his wife, cannot commit to anyone else, and always end up thinkin of his wife that passed, and he cannot wait to see her again and wont commit to anyone else again.
-
it's about a truck driver. quit trying to read in to it so much. and yes truck driver do have jipsy souls in fact people joke about it when talking about truck drivers and say they must have a jipsy souls they have been saying that long before this song cam out. and when country singers talk about a ramblin man they are talking about truck divers.i know this because i have been listening to country music my hole life.

it appears that many of the interpretations are link to the video.
Typically videos are used to provide broad meanings or interpretations or elements for promotional purposes, again depending on the integrity of the artist.
That being said great songs also allow for the same broad interpretations that are above. I was more curious as to whether or not an interview was given or in a promotional piece any hint at interpretation was given. -

i think there is a big influence of Dave Loggins' "Please come to boston." in both the woman wants her travelling boyfriend to return home to her, even though she knows his tendency is to keep moving from place to place.
-
I think that this song is about a man that can't forget about his lost love that died, and he wants to move on but he can't forget about her so he keeps running.
-
I believe it's about he loves a girl, but he made a mistake and screwed his chance with her. He tries moving on but he is still thinking of her and feels like he's stuck in colder weather and maybe tomorrow he will be over her, and if he's better tomorrow, i'lll call you.

From songfacts.com.....
The song tells the tale of a traveling musician who heads back on the road chasing his dreams. In doing so he leaves behind the woman who loves him. Later on, he starts having second thoughts and returns to her but it isn't long before the urge to roam overtakes him again. ZBB fiddle player Jimmy De Martini told The Orange County Register: "It's more of a ballad, but it gets really big towards the end. It's about the life that we live now — leaving loved ones to be gone on the road, and (how) some people have trouble holding on to relationships and some people miss being home. It kind of goes through what a musician and traveling person goes through. It's one of my favorites."
