A Day to Remember: If I Leave Meaning
If I Leave Lyrics
In the beginning I was up front
Nothing to think about, you'd always hear me out
We made a pact and never gave up
When everything would change, we'd always stay the same
Something went wrong along the way
You'd come around and there's...

To me this song is about a relationship that the writer was in. He was upfront with his intentions when he first met the person letting them know what it was he was aiming to do (be in a relationship, friends, etc). Probably a relationship with a girl. Things started out great but turned bad quickly. The writer says "something went wrong along the way" self explanatory. Essentially the writer just wants to move on from the relationship, but finds it hard to do so because he loved this particular person very much. Now he's finally getting the chance to tell the person what has been on his mind all this time when he may not have had the chance to do so before.
