Avenged Sevenfold: Betrayed Meaning
Betrayed Lyrics
Passion in my eyes, I lived it everyday, but how could you go throw it all away?
In my dreams it's me and you, it's there I saw it all come true
As time went by faith in you grew, so one thing's left for me to do
I feel it burn inside,...

Hahaha.
Any song has many interpretations, and I think it was a nice way to bring the song into a different light by focusing it towards the story of Judas.
[I'm not religious at all, but still - I like when people can think outside of the box.]
However, the song was written about Dimebag, of course.
But any song can be turned from it's purposeful meaning and used to another advantage, of course - that's the beauty of music.
And thus my point - don't hound others.
[Unless they're so far off it's insane and not even relative to the meaning - which, here, is not the case. The song is about BETRAYAL - hence the title, and it can be used towards such.]
HOWEVER - I'm sure we all know A7X uses nods to the Bible quite often, especially the book of Revelations [I believe]. The name and some of the songs titles are pulled from it. So they were on the right path when they said A7X was a christian band - though I do doubt that - they had something to back up their point. -
Has anyone else noticed that christians keep finding away to get into EVERY F'ING SONG THEY FIND GOD am I the only one?

The song is about the late great guitarist Darrell Lance Abbott of Pantera if you've convinced yourself that it's about judas and jesus you somehow don't have enuf money to buy a 15 dollar cd and read the header of the song betrayed that says and I quote "Dedicated to Darrell Lance Abbot'Dime Bag Darrell'" Another fact you may not kno is that a good friend of Dimebag's "Zach Wylde, former Ozzy guitarist present BLS guitarist" sings the deep Alto "every note every word" in betrayed.this is an unknown "fact" left off the albums guest list. also I must say the song is more or less about Matt's love, and intuitional desire to play music like pantera's, he's singing about his love and monument to Dimebag along with all of Pantera. All of 3 bars are about the The lead singer from Damage plan shooting Darrell. Check out unlabled Basement Show of A7x at Pop's Music Hall, St louis Missouri on March 21st, followed by 2nd secret basement show on the 22nd at Mississippi Nights. See you there.

This song is definitely about the killing of Dimebag one verse basically confirms it "A smoking gun in hand, now don't you realize what you've done
Put a bullet in his back, your hero since you were so young
How could you kill the man who brought salvation through your pain
He must mean everything to end it all this shameful way" -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

P.S. Avenged Sevenfold was never and will never be a christian band. In fact, the song blinded in chains is about keeping religion out of government entirely. If you don't believe me, read matts forum at www.avengedsevenfold.com/forums. Or ask him yourself.

No, this song is about Dimebag Darrell's killer. That's why they dedicate this song to him in the booklet, that's why every lyric in this song replays something done in that murder, "a smoking gun in hand, now don't you realized what you've done put a bullet in his back your hero since you were so young." plus every a7x fan knows how big of a fan Matt is of Pantera, Metallica, and g and r....Its completely obvious if you know anything about the band. Thank you and goodnight.

Yeah so you last like 2 peopl are way off.
Type in "avenged sevenfold" at youtube and watch some of the interviews. It's about dimebag. Lol. Leave it to people to throw religion into anything. -
Whoever said this.....
"actually, this reference to judas in the bible. Background real quick, a7x was/is a christian band. This entire cd parallels to the book of revelation in the bible. Now stick with me here. Judas betrayted jesus, stabbed him in the back, for payment. He turned him over to the romans so that they could crucify him cause they didn't like what jesus was doing, and judas got the cut. So goes the saying "betrayed with a kiss" (any ap language kids out there, a ethos)."
....................You're completely wrong.............
Ive been a deathbat for sometime now, long before most people knew what that was. Anyway, if a7x is a christian band then I will have sex with you right here. A7x are far from christian, matt hated catholic school so much he threatened to kill his principal to get expelled, then his principal accually died and he got blamed for it and got kicked out. Anyway..Point being, if you are an a7x fan you know that this song is about dimebag darrell as the others have stated, they even dedicated it to him in the booklet that comes with the cd.Duh! -
