Avenged Sevenfold: M.I.A. Meaning
M.I.A. Lyrics
Living another day in disguise.
These feelings can't be right, lend me your courage to stand up and fight, on tonight.
Ooooo....
Stand up and fight.
Now fighting rages on and...

Based on the song, the time was in the frightened silent night. The war has begun. this war was between US vs Somalia – East Africa (1992). The US’s trops were in a disguise fighting Somalia’s troops. With the guns in their hand, they wanted to kill and defeat Somalian in one night. Many of them were feeling frightened in fighting. However, they should be more courageous in their war to kill Somalia’s troops. They have to win this war, so no matter if they die. Become a heroic was in their soul and spirit. Never give up fighting the enemy for beloved country.
The strength of this song is the way people that have achievement to reach something or to do the job; they should be responsible, hard work, keep struggle, and never give up. Moreover, it also encourages the listener to be aware and appreciate toward the people’s work effort.
‘Fight for honor, fight for your life’
‘Pray to god that our side is right’
This song is so epic and powerful. We got the message from the sentences above that people should not hesitate in undergoing an obligation to achieve a noble goal, because we believe that god will always bless us. By understanding the message of this song, we are expected to be able to behave like them.
The weakness of this song, we think that this song just describe from American’s point of view. If we look at from the perspective of Somalia’s troops, how horrible crimes against American forces toward Iraqi troops. -

M.I.A stands for missing in action so there you go

well im not taking either side but the repeated line "staring at the carnage praying that the sun will never rise" does seem anti war but the line "i take their lives so they cant take mine" is justifying it therefore it seems pro war, but as this is not a political band i feel that its neither and they just want to give an unbiased view of war.
-
The song is about the horrors of war. It's not anti-war necessarily as they are very pro-America. But what it does discuss and highlight that all war is awful, and is the hardest thing a soldier can do, even when it is completely necessary.
They are speaking on just how hard it is for our soldiers to do what they do, and then be treated like shit by a certain collection of "American's" back home. -

This is a really beautiful song and story about a soilder at war, and the horror of fighting. He wonders if he will return home and questions weather the fighting is a worth it. " living another day in disguise these feelings cant be right". The guitar is really awsome, what a cool song!
-
Why do all you keep saying anti-war. M.I.A. means missing in action. and in the marine corps we have this saying for all the troops that have been MIA. That is "you're never forgotten". and since our military is being harassed by the media that now the support of the people the people is missing. but still our country we use to be more proud, so let not forget who we are.
Always remain
Semper fidelis -
The entire band admits they're republicans. They even sell American flag tee shirts at there shows. This is not an anti-war message at all.
-
This is not a anti-war song, guys. How could they write one song pro-military/war and write another anti-military/war? Think about it. It's about personal struggles those in the Armed Forces go through. If you study the band and what they try to do is write songs that reflect personal situations, while trying not to influence anyone.
-
IT IS NOT ANTI WAR, fools! The band themselves have stated that it was written after they interviewed some friends who are in Iraq. The last thing they would want to do is put down their soldier buds. It's simply a song that details the hardships and challenges of being a warrior in combat.

This is not a anti-war statement as it is just saying how bad war can be and how people may sign up for the army not realizing what its really like untill they actually get there.but this is about a friend that the band has over in iraq, saying how he would love too see his family again, and be at peace with the ones he love.

The people that say this isn't an anti-war song are correct. It was stated by the band. This is for their friends who fought in the army, but is not nor is it intended to be anti-war.
Thats like saying my friend Bill is in the army, and may be killed or wounded, but I still support him through his struggles.
