Avril Lavigne: Let Me Go Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Let Me Go Lyrics
Used to mean something, but now it means nothing
The echoes are gone in the hall
But I still remember, the pain of December
Oh, there isn't one thing left you could say
I'm sorry it's too...
-
My interpretation comes mostly from the video, with the older man remembering his love that died long ago and is fighting whether to forget her or try to hold on to her memory.
-
It at first, is a breakup song.
They need to let each other go,
But towards the end, they realized they can give their love other try.
They let go of the problems,
But won't let go of each other. -
Even though she has had to say goodbye to two very important people in her life (her ex husband and her grandfather) she is happy now and has already learned to let go of the memories that used to hurt her
-
This song obviously means that there has been misplaced trust and hurt in a relationship between romance or family and one keeps trying to leave, to move on while the other realized their mistake and tried too late to apologize and didn't want to let go of the other, the memories, the obvious past love. But the main part is that the one trying to leave doesn't actually want to leave, they want the other to fight for them, so they know they are still loved and cared for and eventually the said other gives up and the roles are reversed. Easy
