#1 top rated interpretation:Well Basically its her telling the story of a girl who didn't want to go out with this guy because her friends don't think he is cool enough, however some years later he becomes a star and the narrator (Avril) is now with him. basically I think she is trying to say that just because you aren't cool now it doesn't mean you won't be cool when your older. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I think lol

Sk8ter Boi means that a preppy girl likes a skater boi and her friends don't like him so they pressure her to refuse him.Then
(5 years later) they decide to go to his show with her and meet his now girlfriend. She brags about how she got him and (Avril) didn't. Avril is saddened by what her friends do to her and writes this all in her diary.

There are very few things more stupid than poor grammar. This song not only uses incorrect spelling for simple one syllable three letter words, but they also spell skater with a number in the middle like a complete idiot. Honestly the only thing more idiotic than this song title is the jackass that commented on 38 specials hit song hold on loosely that thought it was not about a handjob. Obviously it is and the guy who made the comment in 2011 is just an idiot.

According to lyrics, Boy likes girl and girl likes boy, but her friends swayed her decision to not get with him. 5 years later she’s a single mother leading a very boring life then finds out the boy is now a rock star and tries to get with him but unfortunately for her he found true love. (I can relate to this)
Here’s my theory: the narrator IS the girl but she actually did get with him despite what her friends thought and changed her style. The baby didn’t really exist, that’s how she envisioned herself had she listened to her so-called “friends”.
Moral of the story: make your own decisions. After all if your friends told you to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, would you? -
My friend was listening to that song but it was more pop and rock. But sometimes when writing this song for that tune especially we wrote that we've been through together, but sometimes when I have those things with my mom and that was uplifting.

The only different item would add to the list here is that perhaps the sk8er boi isn't 'over' his high school crush. The two never get together during high school, and both go their separate ways. He ultimately becomes a famous rock star, and goes on tour. During the tour they play a date in his home city. He wonders if she is somewhere in the audience. He continues to think about her for the rest of the tour. After the tour, in the studio, he writes a song for her.....

Well her friend thought if he not cool they shouldn't be together because she is popular and she not be with someone who? can't be popular. Her friends thought he was a joke and she had a baby with the wrong guys. The the reasons she wrote this songs it problby happened in real life duh!

She(Avril) is practically singing about a fancy-pants ballerina girl and a decent-living sk8er boy. She(the ballerina girl) rejects him. She regrets it 5 years later because she's all alone with her baby. He(The sk8er boy) hits the big time. She(Avril) is singing about how she's his woman. "Sorry girl but you missed out. Well tough luck that boys mine now." That what she's singing about.

It's about a guy who liked a girl, and she liked him back but her FRIENDS didn't like him. That influenced her to not like him, and reject him.
Five years later, "skater boy" becomes famous and "rocks up MTV". The girl's friends change their minds about him and buys tickets to see his concert. She comes along and regrets her decision.

I think that this song is saying that whether you be a skater boy of girl, you can be whatever you want to be and when the people who turned you down or bullied you see how amazing you really are and it's to late, they're gonna be sorry that that they were ever bad to you

I think that she is totally writing about her own life before she became famous. Shunned by friends because of unpopularity, and finding where she fit in when she became famous. Rock on Avril!!!! :)
