Avril Lavigne: My Happy Ending Meaning
Song Released: 2004
My Happy Ending Lyrics
so much for my happy ending
oh, oh
so much for my happy ending
oh, oh, oh
Let's talk this over
It's not like we're dead
Was it something I did?
Was it something you said?
Don't leave me hanging in a city so dead
Held up so high...
-
I can relate to this THE MOST song like anything. My boyfriend who meant everything to me was pretending all this time for my happy ending. He was only there when he was alone he had no friends, i was the only one. He acted like he cared. But as he got some friends, he left me hanging, he left me in the middle of nowhere and didn't even ask me how i was holding up. The saddest part is he didn't even use the term "breakup" and left it on me to think what it is.
-
I think this song is about a girl who loves her man so bad, but that girl just tries to let him go because the bullshit things he did and pretended to love her. The girl just let him go with "happy ending" feeling.
-
I think the whole song starts with the first feeling you get when you break up with someone, when you want to fix it, or "talk this over" as she sings. and she wonder where it all went wrong. "was it something i did? was it something you said?" and that she feels a little sad and alone in her city, "don't leave me hanging, in a city so dead". I also think its about knowing that he's friends never liked her and didn't think he was right for her. and that she knew that all the time. about having suspicions over him being unfaithful and feeling dumb for really thinking that he actually loved her.
so after all, i think the whole song is about being in despair of someone who meant so much for you, when they just faked it all and you didn't mean nothing at all to them. -
I think it is about how she loved this dude and she thought he loved her. She thought everything was perfect. She didn't want to let go and kept clinging to him, at first, thinking he was the 'one'. even though he kept hurting her, like the lyric 'the things you hide from me, the shit that you do', so she thought that's it, it's over. The dude probably had affairs with other girls but she didn't want to accept it at first, and she misses the old times. She wants to know exactly what was going on. She thought everything was fine and had no idea, so there goes her 'happy ending'.
-
I think this song also talks about how when the relationship got a bit rough, the guy instead of sticking around and fighting to make things better, he just left. Thats why she says "its nice to know we had it all thanks for watching as i fall and letting me know we were done"
-
This song happens a lot in life. She talks about a boy who she had thought he was everything she wanted. He had changed and had left her for nothing. She mentions his dumb friends who might have told him something bad about her and they have made him cold to her. He used to care about her and had acted well as a lover, but the end of this relationship was others' fault.
-
Actually, I guess he´s cheating her when she said "all the things you hide from me, all the shit that you do".
Most probably, he had gone to several parties with his friends, and took lotta of girls to a ride. -
i think it is about a relationship the girl and the guy start of in love and he just dumps her and is say "so much for my happy ending"
and she says " you were everythng verything that I wanted"
she is saying that they losted thier relationship -
i think its about, a girl and a guy, and every girl wants their "Happy Ending" and this girl thinks she's getting it. But then he leaves here . So she she thinks nevermind, there goes my happy ending.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Maybe someone was going out with her for publicity and she was mislead thinking he really loved her ruining her "happy ending"
