Avril Lavigne: Sk8er Boi Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Sk8er Boi Lyrics
Can I make it anymore obvious?
He was a punk, she did ballet
What more can I say?
He wanted her, she'd never tell
but secretly she wanted him as well.
But all of her friends stuck up there nose
they had a...

i think its about a typical love story and it tells you to not judge a book by its cover and dont make fun of the person you like just because your friends do.

After reading the lyrics and looking at people's opinions I noticed that there was a lyric that no one really mentioned.
"I'm with the skater boy, I said see ya later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I'll be at a studio
singing the song we wrote
about a girl you used to know"
This lyric makes me think that the girl who broke up with him had decided to change herself for him in the end. The last lyric says that they will being singing the song they wrote about a girl "you" used to know. She may be implying that what I just said about her changing herself. -
i think she has changed the female/male roles here and shes is infact the "skaterboy". maybe some guy back in school rejected her because other people didn't consider her cool enough and now she's famous and his life is somewhat less desirable
-
Here's what I think: there was a girl who really liked this guy and he liked her back, but her friends did not approve of him, so she dumped him. Years later she sees him on tv and would like him back, not because he's famous, but because she misses him. As it turns out he is now with another girl who was her friend long ago and just likes him for his looks. Any way he gets back together with the girl he started with.

I think that the pretty girl likes the sk8er boy and so does he. But her friends does not like him because of his clothes so she just ignore her feeling. Then after the 5 years she is a single mother with a kid and see the sk8er dude on mtv and go with her friend to his concert and shes not afraid to tell about her feeling. But he moved on and is with someone else. So that means dont judge a book by its cover. He may look like a punk but be kind.

I agree with the version that the song is about Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whimbley's love. and i'm guessing Paris Hilton is a "ballet girl" .. haha
I love this song )) -
This song a Sk8er boy and a girl who were in love, but the girl refused him to be embaresst infront her friends and she leave him.
"After 5 she sit home feeding a baby she is all alone" which mean the girl is single mother , she open TV and see her X-BF rocking up the MTV , she to go to him but they she was late"Sorry girl but you missed out" and the Skater bio is with avirl writing a songs about who did she missed with his head "I will be the stadio singing a songs he wrote about a girl he used to Know" -
Hey, I may be wrong 'bout this...(wich doesn't mean you HAVE to correct Me, If I am...)Maybe this song is 'bout Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whimbleys love? Someone else who think so...? Deryck says in the song "Fat Lip" that "As a kid, was a skid and no one knew me by name" and "I know I'm not the one you thought you knew back in highschool". Deryck is a skaterboy. And this song is about Avril and a skaterboy. Sure, I knoiw, there is a few of theese, but... just think about it. Cuz I am sure. This is what she is singing about.
-
This is about Avril and this guy which I'm guessing to have a lot of friends liked her but no enough to admit it in front of his friends and he just went for looks and later her came back say he wanted to be with her but he had his chance to look in side and see what she was really like
"Too bad that you couldn't see See the man that boy could be There is more than meets the eye I see the soul that is inside" -
I think maybe it's about her and Deryck (he is a Punk); Or maybe she wants to tell with this song, that you don't have to be cool to fall in love with someone! Maybe she wants to tell us, that you don't have to be like all the others!!

I think that it's easy to miss the deeper meaning in this song. As the song says, you can't just take everything at face value. Sure, the song tells a cute story, but there is so much more going on just beneath the surface. This song is not about people, but human nature. The pretty girl represents the Christian stranglehold on our public school system. Our children are being brainwashed everyday. The skater boy represents fearless honesty. You have to be brave to face the world and be honest about what you feel. If you are a scumbag Christian teenager, you are forced to hide your feelings beneath layers of guilt, shame and dishonesty. Blind faith requires this of you. But, like the "pretty girl", you will eventually begin a process of self destruction, and before you even realize, you will be in far too deep. You will get drunk for the first time at a party, feel really guilty about it and cry. Some nice boy will let you cry on his shoulder and then you will immediately lose your virginity. You will feel REALLY ashamed (and sore) the next day. This will get even worse when you realize that you are pregnant. Your parents will force you to keep the baby. This will basically ruin the rest of your life. You will be forced to work crappy jobs to pay bills and eventually become a raging alcoholic. You will lose your 3 or 4 kids to the state because you will be an unfit mother. You will marry a man who beats you. You will be fat and sloppy. You will eventually die of cancer.
I think this song is about the fact that there is no justice for a person who refuses to take responsibility for their own destiny. -
She is just saying that this girl missed out on a great guy...and now they are very happy together..and that he is now actually worth something,,,and he is famous
