Black Veil Brides: Coffin Meaning
Coffin Lyrics
I live without them
Standing wet in holy rain
When you were baptized
Ignored the problem
That's when I watched you dig your grave
I tried to save you
But let you drink the pain
A final song now (oh) we both know
So...

#1 top rated interpretation:"It's me reflecting on how some some people seem to start taking advantage of you as you become more successful, and after a while you feel like these people are only taking from you. In the end all you have left is that pine box you're buried in. " - Andy Biersack.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:I feel that Andy put an extremely under lying message about he is no longer Andy Six. He doesn't owe Andy Six anything because he created him, but so many people still consider him as Andy Six ("I won't let you suffocate me"). Its kind of the death of Andy Six and the rise of Andy Biersack.

I don't exactly follow the band so I can only say what message I got from the song without knowing anything about their career. For me it's all about religion. There are very obvious references and also references like "drink the pain" which sounds a bit like what Jesus said when he accepted his fate to be executed.
He says "I don't owe you anything" meaning that he doesn't feel any gratitude or any obligation to any divine being that is gonna change who he is and how he acts.
"you'll only die a dream forgotten" means that he believes that the evolution of humanity is to get rid of faith so either god or the faithful with fade away in the future.
Then he says he "has his pride" meaning he is too proud to let any divine commands or ethics apply to his thinking. And then the killer line "I'll never let you steal my coffin" means that he wants to stop religion from determining anything about his death (either when he thinks about it or when he actually dies). His "coffin" is his and he can die on his own terms without being bound to anything and forced to believe something out of fear or compliance. -
I think that the song coffin is about how BVB is trying to move on from how they were in their first two albums, We Stitch These wounds and Set the World on Fire, but part of the old them are. If you are going off of the lyrics it is.
I don't owe you anything: They don't want to/have to give up who they are trying to be.
You'll only die a dream forgotten: It is saying that how they are now is how they want to stay. And that eventually "Andy Sixx" and the old bvb will fade. (but not really)
I've got my pride so hear me sing: They are saying that their pride is what keeps them from going back to the way they used to be
I'll never let you steal my coffin: They are saying that how they are now is how they want to die, not how they used to be.
These are all just my interpretation, it could be completely off so... -
its probably andy saying he is done with the old him and letting the new him out and that no matter what its a little to late to probably go back and get the old him
cause he's started a new chapte and put the old one a way
I also think it means that he is tired of people using him amd he will no longer accept it ,cause the first time he was blindes by the words and now he is gnna stand up and no longer let people step over him and use him -
Now see when it says "I'll never let you STEAL my coffin" I believe he is referring to a secret he has put to rest. Somethings he will never tell/show anyone. No one will ever find out.
He also says "so I'm not giving up won't let you suffocate me" I think hes trying to say no matter how hard you try you will not make him tell you said secret.
Then he said "I tried to save you but let you drink the pain" saying that he was trying to make you stop asking cause this secret could hurt the other but they didn't stop asking "drinking pain" means he made them suffer by telling them. -
Its simply telling that Andy Sixx is not dead but is Andys younger self is put in his past. Simply its Andy's way of saying he's grown up out of his Andy sixx past. he has simply grew mature. Hes now Andy Biersack. STAY STRONG BVB ARMY XP

Andy Biersack is trying to tell his fan base,
that Andy Six is, I don'to want to say dead , but has been put at rest. He has grown up and wants to start experimenting with his talents. I personally believe coffin was a wonderful way to say goodbye to that part of him. It shows he wants to move on but has respect enough for his old self to not just throw him away. It also shows BVB's standing point on religion, it was never for them. -
this song is all about andy growing up. at the end he burns the notepad the boy (andy as a child) had in knives and pens, this is like him saying I don't need this anymore. also he closes the coffin on 'andy sixx' symbolising that Andy SiXx is dead and now he is Andy Biersack and he is grown up and not the child from knives and pens anymore.
-
Okay so first, it is (or was) andy SIX, with one x. Andy loves Nikki sixx, but he dropped an X as not to copy or seem like an obsessive fan or whatever. It says that in an interview with his dad on vampirefreaks.com.
Also, I think this song can be about andy saying goodbye to andy six, but I think that it is more about how god is bringing [us] down, or the person that andy, or whoever, is referring to. That is the part about baptism.
I don't think that it is about saying goodbye to andy six the more I think about it, because the song was actually not written by andy, but by Jake and Ashley, so it isn't focused on andy. You know, guys, Andy is not the ONLY member of the band.
Anyway, I believe it is more about religion - or going against god - more than anything else. -
I think that coffin is about Andy Biersack saying goodbye to Andy Sixx because he has changed and grown up over time. And in the video there is a notepad at the end that is most likely the notepad from knives and pens. But what do I know I'm only 14. I also have a feeling that its Andy Sixx in the coffin.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Coffin is about how Andy Biersack is saying goodbye to Andy Sixx and that he has grown up and doesn't want to be known as Andy Sixx anymore. The Andy in the coffin is Andy Sixx and the ANdy outside the coffin is Andy Biersack, he is saying that Andy Sixx is dead.
-
I think that in the video that Andy Sixx is in the box, and Andy Biersack is saying goodbye to Andy Sixx because he is growing. And in the video he burns a notebook the notebook says hero on it it is stating that he is growing up and moving on some people say the notebook is from the video of knives and pens, And that could be possible.I do also think that the notebook is suposed to be from Knives and Pens
-
I think the song is about how Andy Sixx died and Andy Biersack is born.
Also I THINK in the music video and the lyrics says that no one could copy Andy Sixx or even BE Andy Sixx only Andy Biersack can BE Andy Sixx. -
what i think this song really means is that andy biersack is saying goodbye to andy sixx like in knives n pens he was a boy that called himself andy sixx but now he is a man andy biersack and in coffin video andy is standing outside of the coffin but andy sixx is in the coffin the one with longer hair and more clothes and makeup but he has grown up from that like in knives n pens he had a notebook in real life that he wrote in and in coffin they burned a notbook and it said hero on it andy is saying he is a man now and is grown up and has found his way in life no longer the little lost boy in the video knives n pens
-
