Breaking Benjamin: Break My Fall Meaning
Break My Fall Lyrics
Let me feel your heavy hand.
I will clean your fuckin mess,
And leave no trace of evidence.
I am losing you again,
Let me out and let me in.
Cause you're not alone here;
Not at...
-
I might be completely off the mark but I'll try to give my interpretation.
It's a relationship that fades in and out over the years. Neither of them know how to make it more than what it is but they're always there for each other when one needs the other. It's like going through phases when you're okay and you don't miss them for months or a year but then you start missing them one day for whatever reason and crawl back to them. Instead of them hating you, they just embrace and try to help you feel better. You messed up and they've messed up but you work with what you have and never really say goodbye.
"I am losing you again" shows that he's lost her before.
"Let me out and let me in because you're not alone here not at all" Let me in your life again so I can help you get through this. You don't have to go through it alone.
She might occasionally suffer through depression and you try to make her see that it's going to be alright.
It's my favorite BB song. They're all amazing but I can really relate to this one. -
I see it as a girl who is suicidal that he fell really in love with. He wants to be more than her friend so he begs her to let him in because he wants to be a part of her life. This song is so beautiful. He doesn't want her to feel alone. "You're not alone here, not at all, let me belong here, break my fall" He'll break her fall by making her happy and no longer suicidal and she can break his fall by openning up, letting him in her life, and loving him back.
I could be way off in my interpretation but this is what it makes me think of. -
You fought me once but not again (She let him go before but he won’t lose her again. He’ll fight to keep her if he has to)
Let me feel your heavy hand
I will clean your fucking mess (She has a lot of problems and he will fix all that she destroyed)
And leave no trace of evidence (No one has to know what he’s done)
I am losing you again (He knows she’s slipping away from him)
Let me out and let me in (She comes and goes as she likes and plays with his love. They have an on again off again relationship)
'Cause you're not alone here (He wants her to know he’s there for her, waiting, and she doesn’t have to face life alone.)
Not at all
Let me belong here (He wants to be a prat of her life and is begging her to give him a chance)
Break my fall (He’s hurting inside and needs her)
Shelter me from this again(He doesn’t want to be hurt like this again)
Dedicated to the end (He’s always been there for her and he won’t stop being there for her because he loves her)
Help me break my conscience in (He’s made some past mistakes and he needs her to forgive him. He knows she loves him. He needs her to help him feel better about it all)
To free us from our innocence (They’ve both lost their morals together.)
I am losing you again (She might be falling in love with someone else)
Let me out and let me in (This could be a sexual reference)
Let me belong here
Break my fall
(He’s falling and in a lot of pain over their failing relationship. He wants her to help save it.) -

This song is about someone wanting to fit in, but is always being pushed to the side and always being overlooked.
-
This song is about letting people in and allowing them to comfort you as you are comforting them. It sounds as if the song is mentioning a relationship that fades in and out as time passes. They obviously care for each other, though one is less involved than the other.
-
Sounds like he's pleading with a girl he likes, asking her to accept him. He wants to belong to her, for her to belong to him. He also wants to help her sort out her problems (I will clean your fuckin mess). And he wants a more intimate relationship (help me break my conscience in to free us from our innocence). But above all, he wants her to be understanding of his vulnerability, and not to be to harsh on him, because he's taking a big step in asking her. He wants her to be gentle and supportive, because he's opened his heart and feels vulnerable. He wants her to break his fall.
