Bring Me the Horizon: And the Snakes Start to Sing Meaning
And the Snakes Start to Sing Lyrics
Tell your friends to sharpen their teeth
There's a few quid to be made...
And my soul's a sorry state
So come on down, you're empty lovers.
Wolves come out of the woodwork
And the snakes start to sing.
Do you...

#1 top rated interpretation:Oli once said you truly wouldn't understand the meaning unless you were him or his parents. He also said you can take it anyway you want, so here goes:
I think he talks about different things in this song. "Wolves come out of the woodwork. Leeches crawl from out of the dirt. Rats come out of the holes they call home. I fall apart, and the snakes start to sing." Here i thing he is referring to people. An examle is: "Leeches crawl from out of the dirt." Leeches are people who really aren't your friends and take things from you and use you when they can. "If you can,t soar with the eagles, then don't fly with the flock." If you can't be with the popular people, don't force yourself. I think Oli is referring to his family since he also says, "I'm just a woulda been, coulda been, shoulda been, never was, never ever will be." Indicating that he was the outcast of the family and he won't ever be like them. I have more to typeis so but since this is so long I'll stop. But thay was part of my lyric interpretation. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This song quite possibly be about how Oli sees his role in relationships that he has had as a reflection of his parents' relationship.
First off, he questions "Was I your knight in shining armour? Or the apple of your eye? Or just a step, a fucking step, to climb?" He asks what his girlfriend's need for him really is, and if she sees him as a knight in shining armor, or if he is just another brick in the wall.
What I find really interesting, though, is how he relates his relationship to his parents'. "Did you catch your own reflection in the knife my Mother held or the hell in my Father's eyes?" His father might have been a drinker, and his mother might have just lost it, and attacked him with a knife one night that he had hell in his eyes. He sees this rage-filled torn relation in his parents reflected in his with his girlfriend (Did you catch your reflection)
Just my humble interpretation. I might have it completely wrong, but enjoy! -
I think it’s about how he feels like I think it talks about like betrayal and thoughts like feeling like you don’t belong on earth Becuase of what people have said

I think this song is about his girl friend who threw him under the bus. His girl friend rated him out that he was still doing drugs and maybe other personal family secrets. She used him “tell yourself that its just business” leeches, rats, snakes start to sing “talk”. Its clear its about someone potentially using him, and then somehow this information mad his mother angry enough to hold a knife either toward Oli with the hell in his fathers eyes. If you cant sore with the eagles... or was i a step to climb. No loyalty ! Ratted him out !

He doesn't or has never felt like anyone really loved him for who he really is. That life goes by drifting meaningless like being on a meaningless high. And he sees his life becoming like his own parents unfortunately. He is a loner caught up in a world he wants more from or to be a better part of. If I were there, i would tell him Rise above it my friend. It is indeed hard to climb but the numbness will dissipate. :)

I have always thought the lyrics, "did you catch your own reflection in the knife my mother held or the hell in my fathers eyes" he is asking this to his addiction. Like, do you see what you are doing to me and the people I love.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

My best guess is that this about a man battling an addiction and the hell it plays with family. Questioning life and everything else that comes with drug addiction like the kind of people the drain you and take take take. This song really speaks to me in a meaningful way because of my own battles.

The song is about crack.

Beautiful song. Drug addiction +1

I think this song could be about how he sees the world. Society could be the thing that has caused "I've lost the plot again". And he could be talking anout how you have all of the cliché groups and the populars are the eagles. "If you can't soar with the eagles, then don't fly with the flock" If you don't fit in with the populars then don't force yourself to be with that crowd. "Don't say I'm better off dead, cause heaven's full and hell won't have me" Someone or something is saying that he shouldn't be around and the lyrics response is saying that they aren't bad enough to go to hell, but heaven already has everyone it needs. So therefore, he is just stuck in a somewhat dazed state.

In my opinion this song could maybe symbolize drug addiction.
