The Sadness Will Never End Lyrics

Our legs begin to break
We've walked this path for far too long
My lungs, they start to ache
But still we carry on
I'm choking on my words
Like I got a noose around my neck
I can't believe it's come to this
And dear, I fear
That this ship is...

I think this song is about a relationship. The girl has given up on it and she doesn't want to try anymore but he is asking her not to give up. The scars he's talking about refers to previous fights they have had and things that have been said or done. He says there is nothing they can do but sleep in the bed that they have made for themselves which implicates that both of them knew what would happen and the brought it upon themselves. He questions whether the will make it out alive and mentions a sinking ship which indicates that he knows their relationship is coming to an end. Yet he still asks her not to give up and he says he won't give up on her. Clearly you can see that he feels a lot for this girl to ask her to hang on even when all the sighns are there that its just not working

I think it has a small connection to the titanic. Cause at the end where it says 'We'll play this symphony of sympathy' I think it relates to when the Titanic was sinking, the musicians continued to play the music until the ship went down. And there was a lot of sad romance on the Titanic the night it sunk. Maybe Oliver is comparing his love to one romance like on the Titanic.

A couple struggling with addiction and realizing that they are basically dragging themselves down by using drugs/alcohol whenever they are sad and now they are trying to turn things around.

Maybe it is about him having a relationship with a depressed, self harming and sad girl. He tries everything he can to change her mind but eventually he fails. He doesn't wanna deal with it and accept it, so he is leaving and traveling to anywhere but there, but his thoughts are still with her so he comes back and keeps trying to save her
