   This is not a 'love song': this is a song about how women can only be valued if they are beautiful. He ignores her personality completely, suggesting that he could not care less about her feelings, or about her as a person. He perpetuates this image of women as bashful, shy, love-starved creatures who must constantly feel bad about their appearance in order to get any affection.
   Through merely focusing on her aesthetic features, Mars is making an excellent case for why men like him should not be allowed record deals. 'When she smiles', the whole world does not 'stop and stare for a while' because I very much doubt that anyone other than Bruno Mars is quite shallow enough to do so.
   A hint for the future, ladies - if all he compliments is your appearance then you have no business being with him. You deserve better.
