I think Perri wrote this song for the Holidays. From my understanding, she also had some help from her brother, Nick Perri. These lyrics are kind of like she is reminiscing on what she remembered Christmas was like. She starts off with lights and a tree. Then goes onto what her mom was doing. Its all about how she remembered December like when she was a kid. Finally, she also mentions how no one is really alone around Christmas even though it may seem like it.
