Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics

Am I more than you bargained for yet
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear
Cause that's just who I am this week
Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song

It's about a crazy guy with a gun who ends up shooting himself with the gun 'We're going down, down in an earlier round (Take aim at myself)
And Sugar, we're going down swinging (Take back what you said)
I'll be your number one with a bullet (Take aim at myself)
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it'

Okay, I know this song has been interpreted a buttload of times, but I have something to say after spending about an hour reading all of these. I think that this song has no one meaning it is meant to have multiple meanings. Some that I read seemed right, so this song can basically mean either Pete's need to satisfy his fans, like in "am I more than you bagained for yet" or it could mean a loveless relationship. It could be that the main character in the story once was with this girl, but it was unrequited love, he only felt feelings for her, but then she broke up with him and started going out with another guy. Well the guy wants to be the other guy (and no not with him, it definetly has nothing to do with being gay, no offense) that his former girl is already with. He could probably be so depressed about this that he might want to commit suicide. He wants her to "take back what [she] said " otherwise he would aim at himself. It could be his love for a girl, or all these at the same time. But there are a couple of thing that are definetly not true: It has no relationship to being gay. This song also does not deal with incest, or chickens I'm sorry. Another thing is the words are "god complex" and "friction in your jeans". I loooove Fall out Boy I shuld know! So just leave the interpretation to yourself.

The guy is in the closet watching the girl he loves with another guy so he wants to shoot him so he shoots him, then the girl, because she broke his heart. Then he shoots himself so he won't get caught (that's why he says sugar WE'RE goin' down)

OK, when I read miss piggy's interpretation, I started to laugh because I thought she was kidding, but it doesn't seem like she was. Why the hell would this be about chickens?? Have you ever even heard SWGD??

I'm just going to through this in here because I'm really surprised nobody has thought of it yet.

"a loaded God complex, cock it and pull it."

My original interpretation of this line is that by God complex, he is talking about a gun. What are guns primarily used for? Killing, taking lives... There are people out their who believe that God is the only one who should take lives. Thus by using a gun, by thinking you have the right to take lives, you have a God complex. The "cock it and pull it," as well as the previous line, "I'll be your number one with a bullet," strengthen this.

I'm not going to say whether this is still what I think the song is about because I really don't want to get into this discussion. I just thought I'd through that out for people to think about.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

LMAO. I think xxmisspiggyxx is awesome and that person is hilarious.

But I think it's about a boy and a girl that just use each other for sex. They don't mean anything to each other and they have their own love partners.

Okay, first of all xxmisspiggyxx is a real loser. This song is about a guy and a girl. I really think whoever thinks that is it about gays they is incrediably wrong. I have nothing against gay people, but honestly, in the music video, do they have two gay people? I didn't think so.

It is about this guy (who is totally different from everybody else hence the antlers) and he loves this one girl who had (probably a one night stand), but she likes this other guy so he talks about how he wishes he can be him, or it can be interpreted by the pop charts.

Whoever thought it was about gays and chickens (what a loser) really didn't know what they are talking about and should go listen to some other band that they can at least understand the words!

I agree with blnt_ with everything. I think this song is about a boy in love with a girl, but that girl has a boy friend and he's stalking her. Hence, the "I'm watching you two from the closet". The "we're always sleeping in and sleeping for the wrong team" means they are sleeping with the wrong people and should be with each other. As someone mentioned the "god complex" is the boy thinking he has the right to kill for what he wants.

I think that this song is about a guy and girl who broke up. I think that he is still in love with her, via the masturbation. You guys are overlooking the line "a loaded god complex cock and pull it" This meaning that she has to live her life the way she wants to and when she feels like she is on top of the world go with it. So he basically realizing that if he loves her he will set her free... even if that means her dating someone else.

I think that the song is about a guy who is in love with this girl's boyfriend, because he says first off that he sleeps for the wrong team!

I think this is a song about a guy that realizes he's gay (i.e. always been sleeping for the wrong team) because of a fling in the grass by the mausoleum with another guy. The main character is in love/obsessed with the other guy (i.e. line in a song), however, the other guy thinks of the main character as just another meaningless fling (i.e. notch in the bedpost). Well, now it's gotten to the point where the main character tries to say anything to get into the other guy's pants but it doesn't work. When that doesn't work, he resorts to spying on the guy who happens to be getting it on with some other guy at a party or something. You can tell that the main character's love interest is a guy because women don't get "friction in their jeans,"...guys get "friction in their jeans".

I'm guessing that the voyeur was spotted in the closet (i.e. Is this more than you bargained for yet?) Well, due to the main character's god complex and the fact that the love interest wants nothing to do with him, the main character decides that if he can't have his true love, no one can. So he plans on blowing away his love interest and himself with a gun (Sugar, we're going down).

This song is definetly about masturbation. Having heard Pete Wentz himself say it twice, there's no need for more interpretation.

xxxmisspiggyxxx must have been high when she wrote Her interpretation. There is nothing about a chicken in this song, and I don't know where she got that from.

The whole song is a metaphore and you can take it any way you want to. It could be about a girl or about how Pete feels about the band's success. Take it however you want. Plus Pete is insane (in a good way).
