Flyleaf: Missing Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Missing Lyrics
Swam out below her star on sea beneath
Though I lifted up my hands to her
She never lifted me
Oh, something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me as lovers left me to bleed alone
Found something sweet on the island...

First off: I <3 this song. It and "Treasured" are probably my two favorite songs in the entire world.
Anyways, I believe that in the beginning when she speaks of "the Queen" that she might be talking about her mother, who might not have been there for her. And when she speaks of "the daughters of Eve" I think she means friendships. People who should be there "through thick and thin" but when you need them they're no where to be found. And the "lovers" who left her could range from parents, friends, and romantic relationships. They all left her feeling like something was missing.
Considering that she's a Christian,(the line "All is vanity underneath the sun" is even taken from the book of Ecclesiastes) I believe she's writing about what was "missing" before she had Christ in her life. That's exactly how I felt before I became a Christian and why I love this song so much because I can relate to that feeling of missing something in my life and the more beautiful after fact when Christ came into my life. -
Here is what I gather. I heard the song well a couple of times and I figured that first to parts of the song she sounds like she is trying to be excepted by these people (i.E the queen, the daughters of eve) and in their company she felt something was missing.
And in the chorus she sings about how she feels it ---that one significant missing piece and then she speaks of how she can relate to it becuase it was deep and it was eerily familiar with how she felt when fell out of love (She lovers left me to bleed alone)
Then in the bridge, she proclaims that love on earth was't meant to be for her.
(What I gathered from it was the earth's love wasn't enough to lift her and she has realized that she needs something way more powerful)
This is what I gathered like I said before, I mean either way her voice is amazing her music is amazing and they rock.
