Flyleaf: Perfect Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Perfect Lyrics
-
I think this song is about being perfected in Christ.
Sick of circling the same road
Sick of burying the guilt
Its like she's saying that she is sick of doing the same thing over and over, like when u try 2 fix urself u decide 2 stop but u dnt hav enuf strength to stick to it. She's also sick of feeling guilty.
So open the windows to cool off and heat pours in instead. It's like she's saying that when she tries something the opposite effect happens.
Perfect in weakness I'm only perfect in just your strength alone.
Here she says that she is full of weaknesses and only Jesus can make her perfect.
All my efforts to clean me leave me putrid and filthy
All that she tries to do to perfect herself just leads her back to square 1
And how can You look at me when I can't stand myself
She's wondering how God can still look at her with love wheb she hates herself(I can relate to that, I used to hate myself too so it was strange for me to fimd that He loves me)
Then its the chorus again and this time it adds"running I'm just Your strength alone"
Like depending on God only
I tried to kill You
You tried to save me
You save me
Its like we all participated in the crucifixion so even though we are the ones who killed Him, He chose to save us -
This song is about how perfect some people can be. She is talking about a boy or a group of queen bees. Then she explains we cant all be perfect.
