Flyleaf: Supernatural Meaning
Supernatural Lyrics
-
This song is about a person who had a sick mother. At first, he wants she to be good, to be alive, he wants God to let she live. And her mother is still happy and strong because of the love she feels for him, she's hanging all of this because of love, with a supernatural patience. But then we have "thank you for ending her pain", what means that he understood that was better for his mother to die than stay alive with all her pain. I guess thins is also about loving people and letting them free, not being selfish because of love. 'Cause if you love someone, you may want the best for this person, you have to think about what he/she is feeling, and not only how you'll feel about it.
He wanted her to be alive, but she was suffering that much that he understood he had to leave her free to die so she would not suffer more, it was her time to go. And in the end Lacey says: "he is teaching me what love really means", showing what he learned with everything he passed through with his mother.
