Jason Mraz: I'm Yours Meaning
I'm Yours Lyrics
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back
Before the cool down run out I'll be givin' it my bestest
And nothin's gonna stop...

#1 top rated interpretation:Interesting thoughts on this song, mostly to do with love of another person by the looks of it. I believe, being a songwriter myself, that it is open to anyone's interpretation and only the writer knows exactly what was on his mind when writing it.
After singing it a few times at an open mic night, and relating it to my own experiences, to me, it's all about being a musician and getting noticed and not slipping through the cracks or being forgotten, he's gonna give it his best, and not let anything or anyone stop him from winning or learning from the experience.(Are you experienced?) So he's not going to hesitate no more it can't wait, he's going to get out there up on stage and give himself to the people (fans) he wants you to open up your mind and see like him (a musician) and by opening up your plans your free to go out and make the music (the thing he loves, the thing most musicians love the most, imo)
What got me was the whole, being part of a bigger family, like at the music club, and he even says, "listen to the music of the moment" and as an artist/musician, it's his God-forsaken right to be loved, after all fans do "Love" their favorite artists.
Two thoughts on this part, who hasn't, as an artist/performer practiced in front of a mirror, to make sure everything is just right, and looked just right and since its all good, there's no reason why you shouldn't just forget about what other people think and just go with it (vanity), make it a goal, and "our" name (band name) is "our" virtue (def virtue: Personal virtues are characteristics valued as promoting collective and individual greatness.)
or...
as part of a member of a band, you need to think about what you say to other members and tend to try and bend over backwards to try and please everyone, and sometimes things get a little cloudy and messed up but it's best to just put on the happy face and carry on
If you look into your heart and do what you love, the skies the limit, don't make it more difficult than it should be, no time to waste, never know how much of that we got. It's a performers destiny to perform.
Anyways that's my take on, but, my biggest love in life is music, so I see it that way. I suppose though it could be about romance, but he is known to saying that it wasn't really a romantic song...

#2 top rated interpretation:You people are so shallow when it comes to analyzing songs. "I'm Yours" is not a song about a girl or Hawaii specifically, it's far beyond that. Have you not seen the music video? There's nothing about a girl in it at all. Instead, it's a compilation of his care-free and simple travels. "I'm Yours" is a testament to fate, to the great unknown. It means he's offering himself for fate to handle.
The first verse shows the magnitude of fate and how we sometimes do not have much control of the situation. Yet, it doesn't mean that we just sit back and let things happen. With enough determination, that little bit of control is enough to steer us in the general direction we want to head in.
The second verse promotes the idea that we should not worry too much. He wants us to think about what really matters to us, and that's love. Look around and you'll see love in the people as they celebrate life.
The third verse tells us that we should not worry about the trifles in life.
The chorus is about hesitating to take a chance and enjoy life. He want to take a dive and live life to the fullest, and offering himself to the great unknown is his way of doing so. -

#3 top rated interpretation:It's always hard to pick apart a song by someone who writes so crazy random, but here goes...to the person who said they understand the chorus, but not the verses:
The first verse is like you made me fall for you, I tried not to but you're irresistible. I'm trying to come back down to earth because you have me up in the clouds kinda feeling. I'm going to try my hardest and only God can stop me from getting what I want. I'm going to put myself out there, and not be scared to win or lose.
Second verse is just saying look inside and you'll see you have a lot of love there too. God wants us to love and be loved.
"checking tongue in mirror" verse:
Saying I've wasted time thinking am I just coming down with something? Am I looking at this from the wrong angle? There's no better reason than love to get over yourself, your pride, and just go with the flow. BE YOURSELF and just do what you do! -
I wanted to do this song to be apart of my projects for theater but I’m good with editing videos and different songs on every song on the album, Jason mraz has the influence of folk and pop music even though big time rush are killing it, but sometimes people wrote it for the certain times of pop music and write some songs for people you know in life. But we have few friends on the video as well my boyfriend is on the video, and also my friend Taylor earley is on the second song. It’s a mixture of songs with genres of music out together with different writers and producers we know in common. Because people is my type of thing to meet and talking with.

I think that song is so company to have that influences to have that songwriting accept we have stoppable problems to our greater label but our friend Jason came in the door and heard I’m yours.

This song was playing on the radio in my car when I rescued my dog...it seems to fit perfectly with anything you love!
-
Yeah, right! "...fell right trough the crack(s).." then "..spending way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror" and (i like that) ".. my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face(fase) and laughed.." Obviously he was on something that "opened his eyes" to understanding that "our name is our virtue". There is hardly a phrase that supports romance and especially some dude-alike chick. Nevertheless, if it wasn't great it wouldn't get such a fame. -
I think it can pertain to whatever your going through in life! Sure maybe it's Hawaii for Jason but means something else to YOU! For me it's about a relationship.

What does "I fell right through the cracks" mean in this context?
-
Love.
-
Why do people think its about two people, its about hawaii.
-
I'm yours is about his love for Hawaii not a person.
-
this is my favorite song..it's my inspiration.
well for me the meaning of this song is to live
life to the fullest, appreciate little things, stop being vain and try to be yourself..love unselfishly don't stop yourself from being happy, do what u want to do and think that we deserve to be loved..:) -

Two people who love eachother and Jason is finally being the one to say I'm done fighting it and pretending I don't feel it: "I'm yours" The little things he mentions like "I been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror" means he's been spending too much time on the little stupid things no one notices and putting too much effort into that(bending over backwards just to try and see it clearer) and it's much more fun to see things simply and make yourself happy than analyze and fight the feelings.Ex he puts in all this effort to see his tongue but in the end fogging up the mirror and drawing a smiley makes him laugh and is much more worth it than ever trying to make something about himself better. It's more fun than worrying and keeping the love hidden. He's basically admitting he's theirs.

This song is a favorite of my significant other. A real catchy tune and song that grew on me. And not to pick or parse words, verses or even pick the lyrics apart, to me, and this goes straight to the hear, this is a song about not taking any loving relationship, or endearing person for granted.
