Featuring: Colbie Caillat
Lucky Lyrics
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when...

I knew someone getting married to someone in the service overseas and a friend of mine brought up this dog as a perfect wedding dog for them and now I can't see it as meaning anything otherwise. "...lucky to have been where I have been. LUCKY TO BE COMING HOME AGAIN..."
-
Also, the "ocean" he mentions could be metiphorical, as in an obtsacle separating them from each other, and the "island" is the place where they finally meet each other again. :)

I think this song refers to Jason's girlfriend or wife (whichever he has i dont know) she sings "ill wait for you, i promise you." meaning she'll wait until he gets home from a tour overseas. this is shown also through the references of the ocean, water, etc. its a beautiful song and the two collaborating are perfect.

I think, in addition to being in love with his best friend, he either works overseas or is in the military overseas. The song points out that he's "trying" and is unable to come home to see her, or he would have done so already. When he is allowed a brief vacation, they meet on an island between the different places they live, demonstrating their incredible bond.
