Melanie Martinez: A Million Men Meaning
A Million Men Lyrics
Why she got thrown into someone else's hands,
Why she woke up to strange men,
They tore her to pieces
And she couldn't comprehend,
Why she was locked up in a basement
Filled with men,
Should've...

#1 top rated interpretation:Alrighty, y’all who are saying she escaped, SHE DIDN’T ! The words “Heading toward the light” and “ Angels swoop down and grab me” Explained everything! She probably killed herself because she couldn’t take it anymore and she didn’t want to get raped anymore. At least she went to heaven.

#2 top rated interpretation:This character, Miss Maggie was trafficked by her mother at a very young age so she could buy drugs. Melanie Martinez is trying to raise awareness for child and sex trafficking and how hard it is for victims to fit back into the society.

#3 top rated interpretation:this story is telling people how maggie was sold by her bitch of a mother(sorry for my bad words) just for drugs. men began to rape her since she was 5 and how it truelly affected her badly. this song raises awareness for this terrible thing that happens everyday.

You'll hear a lot of other people say this as well, but the song revolves around a girl named Maggie, who was sold into the sex trafficking business so her mom, who's a drug addict, could buy drugs (candy) when Maggie was 5. She thinks it is normal until she gets older and starts to realise it isn't. She tries to escape, succeeds, and finds herself struggling to live a normal life. She finds herself a boyfriend who doesn't know about her past, and she has a hard time trying to find out how to tell him because she's scared of how he will react. A lot of people has said she's died, but I don't think so. I think the lines that made some thought she committed suicide are actually showing how when she was running away (cause she hurt herself really badly running away) she had made it out into the real world, and collapsed out of exhaustion, and the last thing she remembers seeing beforehand is the bright light of the public world, and she thinks she has died, but she had just collapsed from exhaustion and was taken to the hospital.

Y'ALL SHE DID NOT DIE OKAY?????
miss maggie was sold when she was a baby.
she was raped for years and didnt really realize it wasnt normal
miss maggie was saved, probably by the police or someone who realized she was raped. she didnt die, because if she had, she wouldnt say "im seventeen, with the history of a million men"
she still deals with trauma, thinking no one will understand and they will judge her. -
i think it's about a young girl who was sold into sex trafficking by her own mother, and she learns when she's older that it isn't normal in her teenage years so then she takes her own life due to the pain of her whole life being used and exploited and abused/mistreated by people who should have been helping her all along.

Honestly I would recommend the song to 13 and up. Anyways, Maggie a.k.a. the character is sold to multiple men by her bitch of a mother for candy aka DrUgS. Then Maggie is forced to have Sex with them. After a while Maggie gets so fed up that she decides to commit suicide. This song raises awareness to children who have to be sex trafficked or have to go through this stage. It’s very sad
-
So the girl (Maggie) gets sold by her b!tch of a mother for dr*gs. She gets frequently r*ped by the men her mother sold her to and then she has enough of the constant sexual harrassment and kills herself. Sorry if this isn't the best!

Look at the big picture not just Maggie but everyone
Million Men is telling people about sex trafficking. It speaks of young girls who was and still is sold into the sex trafficking trade for drugs or money for drugs. Men began to rape them and treated them horribly, this shows how it truly affected them badly, during that process. It also shows how hard it it for victims to get used to being around others and getting used to live normally. Some young girls might commit suicide because they couldn't take it anymore and they didn't want to be raped anymore. This song raises awareness for this terrible thing that happens everyday. -
A Million Men is about a little girl named Maggie was sold to sex by her mother for money to buy drugs. Maggie was raped everyday since she was 5 until she might have ended her life or has escaped. I think she escaped, she turned 17 and has a boyfriend when saying "How will my boyfriend understand! I'm 17, with a history of a Million men~"

I think Maggie was sold into sex trafficking by her mother so her mom could buy drugs. In my opinion, she tried to escape and was killed, because it is rare that people escape from sex trafficking and even more difficult when they r alone trying to escape. Also, she talking about running 2x, maybe she thought she escaped when she went to heaven and then realized the angels saved her.
-
A million men is about a girl named Maggie who got sold into sex trafficking by her mom so she could buy drugs and she was raped for awhile but one day she escaped and finds it hard to live a normal life cause she was traumatized.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Based on a real life story, the song talks about a girl name Maggie who is sold to men for drugs/money. The men then proceed to do awful things to her and she starts to notice (maybe around ten years old) that the things that's happened to her aren't normal. She finally escapes but can' t live a normal life.
-
I'm gonna explain it sort of breifly. Candy. Aka DRUGS. Her mother sold her to some people for drugs. "Maggie" was forced into sex and was raped often at a young age. She was understanding that kids at her school didnt go through that and that it wasnt right and that it would take a lot to get out of the mess she was in.
-
Ya'll stupid this is based on a real story so here is the real story: Annabelle forest who was forced to sleep with 1,800 men since the age of 8. She did it because her mother said if she didn't then god wouldn't love her
-
She is talking about how her mom sold her when she was 5 and shes never fully recoverd.
-
This is one of the folk songs Melanie wrote when she was an emo teen. She has already said she has written about sex traffic, referring to A Million Men. This song also talks about pedophilia, when a lil girl named Maggie was sold to lots of men by her mother, and she was raped and abused a million times by a million men ( "Should have gone to school, instead she did them", "they tore her into pieces and she couldnt comprehend", "all those promiscous games she had to play"). This is really dark and heavy.
