Melanie Martinez: Brain & Heart Meaning
Brain & Heart Lyrics
Bring up all of my memories for the please and the temporal
False lovin', when I was illogical
Didn't know they held each other hands as they made one whole
Brain stem, yields temperature
Arise now,...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think Brain and Heart is about humans separating them and either only listening to their heart or only to their head. ‘What fun is it to be so calculated’, I think that’s when people are only following their brain and not taking their heart’s emotions into consideration. ‘Or be taken advantage of cause your heart’s too trusting’, could be when people only follow their heart, acting from their emotions. This is my theory.

I think the song is about a sort of sleep paralysis. I have listened to this song and at first it seems like a song about fake love or a break up but as you go into it deeper it mentions a lot about sleep In particular. If you analyze the song part about how she wakes up in a sweat or about the brain stem you could try to connect the dots and it seems to do a lot with bad dreams or paralysis. Again this is just my thoughts and could mean something completely different but most of Melanie’s songs have deeper meaning then they first seem. Just remember that.

I think it is about her following her heart and not thinking straight(when did human start sepating brain and heart if the could stay alive flipped around the other way)
