Melanie Martinez: Carousel Meaning

Album cover for Carousel album cover

Carousel Lyrics

Round and round like a horse on a carousel, we go,
Will I catch up to love? I could never tell, I know,
Chasing after you is like a fairytale, but I,
Feel like I'm glued on tight to this carousel

Come, come one, come all,
You must be this...

So melanie goes to the carnival and falls in luv with a guy. She luvs the guy yet she knows he will never luv her back. "Round and round like a horse on a carousel. Will I catch up to luv? I can never tell" Will she catch up to luv? NO. In the video she is on the horse while the guy she fell in luv with stands in front of her. They are both going the same exact speed so she will never catch up to him. "Right right when I'm near it's like u disappear. Where'd u go? Mr. Houdini ur a freak show." So basically the main idea is the will never luv her back.

that love is a carousel ride you go up and down and its just a crazy ride that you don't really know what is going to happen. she is saying that she loves this boy and he tricked her he wasn't really there for her.

Crybaby ends up falling in love with a boy at the carnival. He 'steals her cotton candy heart'. After Crybaby fell in love with the boy, he seemed to avoid her or ends up 'disappearing'. The carousel is the endless cycle of painful love.

Crybaby is in love with a boy. They go to a carnival and he steals her cotton candy "heart" so she keeps riding. He doesn't love her back as much as she loves him. She can't catch up to her love just like the horses on a carousel.
