Melanie Martinez: Drama Club Meaning
Drama Club Lyrics
Do I offend you? You're hanging on my sentences
You can keep your costume and you can keep your mask
I'ma take a bow so you can kiss my ass
I never signed up for your drama
Up for your drama, up...

Feel like it's about Twitter, cause of how much shit everyone gets there for everything there. Especially celebrities.
-
I think its about maybe toxic friends? K-12 is supposed to be set in a school so maybe she’s suggesting about ‘friends’ who only befriend you to create drama and learn information to gossip and those who expect you to change yourself for them and fit into their ‘friend standards’ or whatever
-
I think that this song is about how she is tired of hiding her personality in the phrase “ your always hiding behind your wizard of oz disguise.
-
When I first listened to this song it made think of dystopian paradise that makes everything seem perferct but one person doesn't wanna be perferct.

Crybaby is tired of people 'hiding behind a script' and faking everything. They try to fit in by making their whole life a play. Crybaby wants them to realize that there's a whole world out there, not just them. People also fake pain for attention. Crybaby doesn't want to be a part of the drama, and doesn't want to live a play or follow a script.
-
I think Drama Club is how Crybaby is sick of people 'hiding behind a script' and acting different to fit in. They hide who they really are with make-up and designer clothes. They fake pain for attention, and their whole life is basically just an act. They're just repeating everything they do over and over. Crybaby doesn't want to pretend to be someone else and thinks that people should realize that there's a whole world out there, not just them. She seems to always be dragged into the drama, and she stands up for herself, saying she never wanted to be a part of it. The more I explain it, the more it sounds like 'Dollhouse', except instead of a dysfunctional family, it's a student (normally a teenager) wanting to fit in.

I believe that it is about gender roles. some people need to be this way and other people another way. practically living by a script, forcing people to be a certain person.
-
Drama club is about how being forced to do something like dressing up or hiding everything about you from the world like referring to the line in sippy cup “Kids are still depressed when you dress them up”and how your following someone’s orders or commands
-
Makes me think of gossip and rumors. Could be about her, maybe referencing other people.
There’s also the idea that other people need to toughen up to stuff like the truth or anything that relates to opinions. -
I think this song is about how easily offended the world is. The lyrics “everyone so soft, everyone’s so sensitive, do I offend you? You’re hanging on my sentences.” Is about how people will find anyway to twist your words to make you seem like a bad person
-
i think that this song is actully about like...Melanie feel like she was
force to beng a nice girl, a fake doll. But she actually never plan to do that, she want to be herself, not acting or being another person. But if she not do things that she was force to do, she can be herself but no one will care about her. They want she to be like what they want her to be. Well that is what i think about this song. Thank you -
I don't really know what this song is singing about. But it's probably singing about a bad club that forces kids to do good and be forced to be a perfect doll.
