Melanie Martinez: Principle Meaning
Principle Lyrics
Always peeping, fucking creeping
Got it on the down low
So you think you always squeaky
What if I had told your mother
Her son was a cruel motherfucker? Ah
It's not just me, it's everybody
Who thinks that...

#1 top rated interpretation:The principal is about authorities hurting and mistreating people to get their money and their respect, because they know that no one will stand up to them.

#2 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about Trump. in the music video, in the the song were she says "killing kids all day and night prescription pills and online fights" literally talk about what Trump is doing. He's putting kids and grown-ups in cages and some had sadly passed away. He's always fighting online hating on people and saying so much stuff on the internet.

#3 top rated interpretation:This song uses the Principal as a metaphor for the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. It is a critique for how he is cruel and greedy, allowing innocent people, including children, to die just so he can get his way. Throughout his presidency, he has caused a great deal of separation among his people and causes many people to struggle.(now this is not my writting but it makes sence i got it from wiki fandom)

It’s about political systems that are bad to the people. Mel originally wrote it about Donald Trump and how corrupt he was as a president. It talks about how they don’t care and hurt everyone for money. “Killing kids all day and night” and “shooting at the angels while claiming you’re the good guy” could be talking about the school shootings. The 6 old white judges in the music video could represent the 6 conservative Supreme Court justices. As for now, this song is representable for many politicians including Ron Desantis, Kim Jon Un, Vladimir Putin, Brian Kemp, the Supreme Court, the upcoming governor in louisiana, Jeff Landry, and the school board as our superintendent hadn’t been paying the bus drivers lately.
-
It’s about people who have higher power than you miss treating you and controlling you because they are higher in power than you and you can’t do anything about it. Has nothing to do with Trump. It’s from an album called K-12 for young girls and teenagers. Also for boys, but it’s mostly about the struggles that girl had to do during school and stuff like that that’s all I have to say
-
I think this is about unfair accustoms in business. For example, things like the gender pay roll, where one gender is treated better than another in the workplace.

I think the Principal is about toxic politicians/the toxic government and president turning a blind eye to all the horrible things that are happening and hurting others in order to gain money. It’s also directed towards Donald Trump. In this song, Melanie is confronting them about what they are doing and calling them out. ‘Killing kids all day and night,’ that could be about school shootings. ‘All you want is cash and hype,’ All the government and Donald Trump want is money.
In K-12, the Principal is controlling them to do what they want and giving them pills to control them. That could also have something to do with the verse ‘Prescription pills and online fights.’ Also, she’s tried to stop the Principal from controlling students so that could also explain the verse ‘I’ve tried to make you listen but you won’t it’s your way, right?’
This is my interpretation, sorry if I have gotten anything wrong. -
I would say this one’s obvious a song about how schools don’t care for their students. But it could also be about child neglect. That’s all I have sorry.
-
I believe that Melanie is talking about hollywood and how they exploit kids for money and use drugs to keep so many quite and easy to control
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
This song is not ab trump, k-12 is an album to put examples of how young kids an teenagers grow up now in this day of age and how kids are treated by adults especially “in school” not ab trump
-
TBH, I'm not that sure, but in the music video u see Melanie and many other young girls dancing for much older men, so I think that might have something to do with it.
