Melanie Martinez: Teddy Bear Meaning
Teddy Bear Lyrics
With cotton and feather
Gave you love, put my heart inside you
Oh what could I do
When you started talking in your sleep
Saying things you'd do to me
I didn't care
I wasn't scared
Now I'm finding knives...
-
The girl meets a boy who she falls in love with and she took him under her wing and everything was sweet but then he became abusive and evil, and he tried to kill her.
-
First he's a sweet heart then he turns.

I think it’s about haveing to let go of the past growing up she was abused and taken advantage of and she is saying that she had to take on way to manny things to a yong age

In this song,i feel like the guy crybaby dated was phsychotic and tried to kill her.She found him broken (probably from a past relationship) she helps him heal then gives him all her love (which he obviously clings onto). The guy then decides that if a lot of guys want her,he will have to kill her because if he cannot have her, then no one can. When she hears him talking in his sleep about wanting to kill her,she gets scared and decides to leave him.But then he comes back THREATENING to kill her if she does not take him back.
Well that is what i think so yeah..dont judge -
I believe the 'teddy bear' is the same guy from the last song (play date). At first the two are in a relationship driven entirely by sex and Crybaby wants to change that. This offends the gug which makes him feel pressured so he leaves then Crybaby finds him and tries to latch things up, this is where the relationship mentioned in this song come into place. After a while with the guy, Crybaby picks up on the fact that the guy is still really crazy and mad at her suggestions to a real relationship and this scares Crybaby so she leaves. Thanks for reading Bye!

At first, Crybaby found the teddy bear, possibly alone, heartbroken, and torn-apart. She took him under her wing and gave him love and comfort. When she noticed him doing weird things, she brushed it off, and thought of it as no big deal, probably, simply because she didn't want to believe that what he was doing was real, and didn't expect it from him. (not really that she didn't want to handle it) But, he leaves behind clues that gets Crybaby's attention, and the truth is so shocking that she doesn't know how to handle it and she is "unprepared". Soon, the relationship evolves into a violent and abusive one. Then, she threw him out, not that her toy got old, but instead, it was acting new and different. Also, he might have been like so the whole time, simply hiding his true self through a teddy-bear façade, making her think he is comfy and nurturing and wouldn't do anything bad. Maybe she let in someone who was not very good and changed him but then returned to his "evil" self. I dunno.. This song is about a yandere relationship (look it up if you don't know what it means). She took him in and under her wing after finding the teddy bear torn apart. She fixed him up and gave him lots of love. He was so sweet in the beginning, but now he's changing and scaring her, leaving behind scary clues "knives under the sheets, crumpled photographs of me", and Crybaby does not know how to react, as she is unprepared and not really expecting that of her lover. It slowly grows into a scary and abusive relationship.
-
Melanie is probably talking about a abusive relationship and she does know if she be scared or not. she must be so in love that she doesn't know what to do. And when she tries to leave this guy keeps following her and its scaring her.
-
The lyric "Breathing deep into the phone", is similar to the lyrics from Milk and Cookies. The lyric in Milk and Cookies is, "Next time you're alone, think twice when you grab the phone" It could also be a reference to the movie "Scream", which makes sence because melanie is a big fan of horror movies, and "Scream" is a classic horror movie every horror fan knows.
Cry Baby's lover, or "teddy bear",whom she built a relationship with nothing but kindness and love begins to lose hope in her bear, and she’s unsure if she should trust him anymore after he begins to act strangely. As the song goes on, the more dangerous and insane the relationship takes a turn for the worse after her lover attempts to "kill her". She doesn’t understand where everything went wrong and why her bear suddenly wants to kill her. The song and the teddy bear is metaphorically interpreted as a relationship that took a turn for the worse.
copy that, didn't own that -

She was in love with someone who took care of her and loved her, but he felt betrayed and thought she was just with him for pitty, and because she thought he was the easier choice. He then acted over protecting of himself and she just laughed at him like everyone else, no one thought him to dare so he tries to prove a point and teach her not to mess with him.
-
She fell in love with someone who was bad but then "stitched him up" into a good person. But then he started to go bad again and betrayed her and became abusive again.
-
She had somebody to comfort her on the hard times but Crybaby just never hugged the bear and he started feeling like he wasn't accepted. So Crybaby just put the bear away and he didn't like that.
-
This is talking about how she loved a man until he Betrayed her, and probably abused her, and she talks about how she can take it.
