My Chemical Romance: Blood Meaning

Album cover for Blood album cover

Blood Lyrics

Well they encourage your complete cooperation,
Send you roses when they think you need to smile.
I can't control myself because I don't know how,
And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while.

So give them blood, blood, gallons...

I always thought that this song was about those people from the blood drive and what they represent. They always come around to the same people as before, teling you that it's time to donate. Every year they do this. Bloodsuckers of the health department.

If something happens when they are drawing blood, they may be able to help you 'with a bit of luck'.

I think this song's about Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange, Gerard is a big fan of the book.

i think this song is really just an evil code from gerard way, saying that the rest of the band are vampires and they are trying to kill him, and he can't runaway because they have him captive. thats what i think so america needs to send a SWAT team out to save him or else he might die, okay?

i think my interpretation is very really good. I think it's about unicorns making a pie out of rainbows and sunshine. I think when he says grab a glass because there's going to be a flood, he is talking about god and how he flooded the world and how no people will be able to get on the arc this time because we are all canibals and drink each other's blood.

well, it's no farther off the mark then some of the other crap that was posted.

I feel like you read my mind!!!

i always thought this was a metaphor of power. "give 'em all that they can drink and it will never be enough!"

because to be honest, if you have a tyrant, the just want all the power you can give them.

some of them get tricky, and claim to be your friend and preech morals, but they really just want to manipulate you into giving up all your rights

I don't know the actual meaning of this song but my interpretation is that it refers to satisfying people who are "out for blood" but no matter how much blood you give them they'll always find something else they feel compelled to destroy.

Its about turtles biting peeps heads off and the army using m249s to shoot the turtles but in the end everyone dies except for a koala who says, "Moo Ima giraffe bitch."

Most artist (in hip-hop and rock for all I know) do what is called double or triple vision. This means you can see it on many different levels. I can see at least three interpretations. Think military, record companies, their fans, and the hospital of course.

I could be totally off and I probably am since this is so different from all of the other theories but I think it's about self harming for attention. Like, they're talking about how he gets nice treatment in hospital and flowers and attention so he gives more blood to get there again. And he says it has never been enough because he keeps getting discharged from hospital and has to cut again and again to get back in.

I don't think they would stray from the theme of the patient

personally, i believe that this is a song just for the fans. it's saying that they have put everything they have into this and their past two albums yet people are still wanting more from them & this can be shown in the fact that they were on tour with this album for two and a half years! also, it may be to show the fans that yes, this may be slightly different and yes, they may look a bit different but they still love the blood & gore. although, it probably does have some reference to the patient and how the doctor and nurses (possibly vampires?) are constantly taking blood, never happy with the amount they have.

The entire album is a story about cancer and chemo. That's why they are talking about giving blood. However, everything they write for this album may be about cancer and chemo and hospitals, My Chem is very good about writing about one topic and making everything very metaphorical. There could be a lot of interpretations for this song, but keep in mind that the story line for this album is all about cancer and chemo.

this first verses of the song reminds me of the patient on their treatment of hospital while the second verses of the song and the last verses reminds me of blood donor donate blood to the patent and wanted the patient be thankful because of it...:D

I think when he is dying many people have grudges towards him, we see that in 'DEAD!'. All hes saying is that he has done everything and people just take it all, and leave him and hate him. they drained the life out of him. they used him, now he is bloodless and sick and alone. but if you give them more blood theyll be thoughtful enough to send you roses

its about how the doctors are evil, and want his blood, and he is loved by them even though he really is an awful person.and sometimes they can get alot of blood (with a little bit of luck). think of an evil red cross blood donation center
