My Chemical Romance: Blood Meaning
Blood Lyrics
Send you roses when they think you need to smile.
I can't control myself because I don't know how,
And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while.
So give them blood, blood, gallons...
-
About diabetes, how much blood is always given. and will always be given. never will stop being in hospital beds, giving them blood
-
It kind of seems to me that he is a blood donor forced to give blood. He tries to fight it and tries to be as difficult as he can. There probably wasn't a blood donor for a while which is why they take so much that there is enough to drink and for a flood.
-
I think it's about giving something and the other person(s) never gets enough.
The song sounds a bit sarcastic, so it could be about the groupies who never get enough of MCR.
But you can interpret much by yourself in this song. -
Well... my chemical romance uses the word "vampires" as a metaphor for evil, or people that are mean or evil or bad people you know what I mean :)
what do vampires like to drink??? blood.
So I think the song is about having those people or that one person in your life that you wish you could beat with sharp objects, and how they never go away :)
If you know what I mean :) -
I think its saying no matter how much you cut you self and bleed it won't fix your problems.
-
I related to this song when I was going through a rough time with my boyfriend,
I think it's talking about leaving a relationship, or taking a break in a relationship.
Or maybe that's just me, it's far off from everyone else's, but that was the personal significance it had for me.

I think it's just a Gerard-ishly humorous song:]
-
This is a song describing the medical industry to a T.
"they encourage your complete cooperation, send you roses when they think you need to smile." Everyone assures you that your complete trust and faith should be in a doctor. You receive flowers at a hospital, etc.
"I can't control myself because I don't know how, and they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while." People have no idea how to take care of their own bodies anymore, and doctors MAKE MONEY FROM IT and will continue to do so, as each drug and each operation makes more and more problems for the individual.
"so give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough. So give them blood, blood, blood; grab a glass because there's going to be a flood." Doctors drink in the profits from making people sick.
"A celebrated man amongst the gurneys, they'll fix me proper with a bit of luck. The doctors and the nurses they adore me so but it's really quite alarming 'cause I'm such an awful f*ck... (why thank you)." Doctors are looked up to and completely trusted and idolized. A show is made for caring about the well being of a patient when really you are just a number on a computer and more often than not, they despise you.
"I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, I gave you all that you could drink and it has never been enough. I gave you blood, blood, blood... I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love!" No matter how many times you see a doctor, THEY CAN'T FIX YOU WITH THEIR KNIVES OR THEIR DRUGS. and they love the fact that you, the human wreckage, will always come to them for more. -

I also hear about a minute of silence when I play the song on my iPod. I think it might have something to do with the fact that it's a hidden track, but since I don't know what that means I might be completely wrong.
And now, for the interpretation:
I don't think it's necessary to search for any deep meaning in this song. I acknowledge the possibility that it could be about a romantic relationship as somebody said, but I think it's just about a man who gives a lot of blood in a hospital of vampires or something. Who cares– it's a funny song. -
I think "blood" is used to symbolize something really special... for example, gerard's music... It's something really special that everybody wants....
i dunno where my lines are going... but I really think this song is about not being satisfied...or obsession...
gerard is so deep.... He always use symbolism in his songs... -
I think this song is proof that the patient lives.
Gerard had said that originally he thought the patient died, but then he thought that maybe the patient could fight it, in Famous Last Words.
HE had cancer, but he had an operation, and lost blood. Now he needs a transfusion. -
I think it's about a patient in the hospital because it says "Well they encourage your complete cooperation"--when the doctor tells you exactly what the procedure will be and how you need to act and "Send you roses when they think you need to smile"--like how people send you flowers in the hospital. and he know he's not doing so well but the nurses and doctors are just nice and professional "The doctors and the nurses they adore me so,But it's really quite alarming cause I'm such an awful fuck.""And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while." and he has to have so many blood test and what not and he's tired of it
-
I Think this song is poking fun at Old fashioned blood letting. Making it morbidly comical in a way.
-
I'm quite amazed that no one has thought about the fact that this song might refer to Gerard's time in rehab.
"Blood, Blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough..." Constant blood samples for tests and such.
"They encourage your complete cooperation, send you roses when they think you need to smile." The doctors and nurses don't want to look like bad guys, they want you to help them help you.
"I can't control myself because I don't know how." He can't control his urges.
"The doctors and the nurses they adore me so, but it's really quite alarming 'cause I'm such an awful fuck." They smile and treat him well despite what he's done.
It's definitely a different view than the others I've seen here, although several of them make just as much sense as well. -
I think this song is about a mental patient.
"Well they encourage all complete cooperation,
Bring you roses when they think you need to smile." Somehow this song reminds me of a patient in a psyche ward who keeps having visions of his doctors being vampires. That' just my POV, though.
