My Chemical Romance: Blood Meaning

Album cover for Blood album cover

Blood Lyrics

Well they encourage your complete cooperation,
Send you roses when they think you need to smile.
I can't control myself because I don't know how,
And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while.

So give them blood, blood, gallons...

I think it's Gerard's way of sayin that they've changed and people want more of them...but that's my opion

I think this definitely is referring back to Three Cheers.
xD I wish so much that they would put out a vid. of Gerard singing this. I laugh just imagining it. ^____^

OOOOOOKAAAAAY this song... I'm sure this is about giving something.. and I don't mean blood... It's like when people want you to be like this or like that and you're giving them what they want evey time but it will never be nough 'cause while you're doing things more like they want, they want even more... I think it could be about parents and kids... when some parents put a lot of pressure inn their kids and the kid will never make them happy.. Tghey want more and more.. and they can think "he's an awful fuck"...

I think this song is about the patient, but also, to a larger extent, the world and us. Its about how we all love blood sports, and we all want to see the train wreck. It isn't literal. There are no vampires. Its about everyone loving him because he's dying. "I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love."

"The Patient" is dying in a hospital, but the doctors(vampires) keep saying that he will live if he keeps giving blood. So he does, and he knows he is giving too much blood, but he can't stop because he believes that he will die if he stops

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think it's a combination about the patient being leeched on by the nurses for more blood for test, etc..., and also in real life how people always want more from you even though you're giving all of yourself.

Ive always thought this song was strange and I've never really got it. I always thought it was a personal joke between the boys...?

This song is weird.. there's about a minute of just silence! What's up with that? It's quite a funny song..i don't actually know what it means.

i think my interpretation is very really good. I think it's about unicorns making a pie out of rainbows and sunshine. I think when he says grab a glass because there's going to be a flood, he is talking about god and how he flooded the world and how no people will be able to get on the arc this time because we are all canibals and drink each other's blood.

well, it's no farther off the mark then some of the other crap that was posted.

i think this song is about MCR giving every last ounce of themselves to their music and fans and no matter how crazy they are their fans love them unconditionally.

It is actually about "THe Patient"
going into the hospital and referring to the nurses
    as vampires,
because they are always taking blood.
and how it is never enough,
    for nay of them.
    and how his "problem"
can be fixed "with a bit of luck"

i think that this song means that everyone has been making him upset and they have never had enough of hurting him so he cuts himself and it's a flood of blood every time he cuts himself. and everyone keeps hurting him and he keeps on doing it and they never get enough of hurting him.

Here's what I think this song means... Throughout the album, as the patient is examining his life, there's little clues to the lover that he left behind. I think after his journey ends... The pain of his lost lover ends. I think she (or it could even be a 'he') goes crazy and kills him/herself over the loss of the patient.

I think this song could be about how obsessed fans can be, and how they can want so much out of their idols and how MCR might feel that even though they do all they can its never enough for their fans or other people.
'Give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough'
As if they are giving their very souls in their work, pouring out every ounce of them into what they do and how some people can still want more.

Might not be though. Just what I think.

Have any of you considered that this might not be literal?
When he says "I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff/ Gave you all that you could drink and it has never been enough" it could mean that, for example in a relationship, he's given his all to someone and they still wanted more. Literally, he feels like he'd do anything for this person and even though he has nothing left to give he'd still spill more of his blood for this person.
