One Direction: 18 Meaning
18 Lyrics
I got a heart, I got a soul
Believe me, I will use them both
We made a start, being a false one I know
Baby, I don't want to feel alone
Zayn
So kiss me, when I lay down
My hands pressed to your cheeks
A long way from the...

At a concert, after louis sang 'i have loved you since we were eighteen' harry yelled to the crowd 'sixteen' the exact age harry was whe he met louis on the x factor. This song is verl clearly about the secret relationship between louis Tomlinson and harry styles.
-
Okay so personally i think this song is about larry, and it sorta has a story behind it.
In the first verse, "we made a start, be it a false one i know, baby i dont want to feel alone." maybe when larry was in the x-factor, they were pretending to be a couple, but deep down harry knows that he's in love with louis.
"so kiss me where i lay down..." that part shows the intimacy of their supposedly platonic relationship.
"i have loved you since we were 18, long before we both thought the same thing, to be loved and to be in love." This reinforces the fact that harry loved louis before louis fell in love with harry.
In the second verse, "we took a chance... yet all along i knew we'd be fine." Maybe later in the year, or maybe even a year later, louis admits his love for harry and they decide to try out dating each other. At first they're awkward and unsure, but harry knows that they're gonna go well together.
To sum it all up, 18 is a really cute love song written by ed sheeran and there's a high possibility it's about larry as we all know ed is a close friend of harry's, and he sorta ships larry as well. Honestly if this song isn't about larry someone should definitely write a larry au based on this song! -
I can't help but smile about all predictions about the song being about Larry; but seriously, I somewhat agree. I'm not a huge Larry shipper, but you can tell by the way they look at eachother and the way they perform the song live, that both Harry and Louis are passionate about the song and honestly, Ed is so close with Harry and I'm pretty damn sure that he would write a song about him (Harry) and Louis relationship, plus, I don't remember which one it was they were, but in a few videos/interview, Ed revealed that he believed in Larry was real. I'm not completely saying "OMG THIS SONG IS ABOUT 100% LARRY AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREE NEEDS TO OPEN THEIR EYES AND SEE THE LOVE BETWEEN THEM IN THE SONG!!!!!!" I'm just saing that there is a good chance that it's about Larry, and in the end, if it's not, then it's not, no questions asked.

OKay this is 100% larry it has to be okayyyyyyy. Ed sheeran is really close with harry so he would know about the relationship and in turn write a song about it. A lot of people are saying "no it can't be about them because when they met Louis was 18 and Harry was 16" yeah well i think maybe louis fell in love with harry when he was 18 like when he first met him and was chasing after him for years and then when harry was 18 he finally realized that he was in love with louis as well.

This is a side note to correct the larry shippers here. The lyrics say "I have loved you since we were eighteen" and Ed Sheeran said that the song was about a 1D bromance, not the romance that larry shippers say it is. Harry was 16 when Louis was 18,so it isn't possible for this song to be about larry.
-
It's about Louis and Harry's hidden relationship.
-
I also 100% it's Larry
Louis's solo proves it 100%.
The "we" is to hide this.
NEITHER HARRY & LOUIS EVER SAID
"THERE IS NOTHING GOING ON BETWEEN US."
"WE ARE NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP."
instead louis have said "People think me and Harry are genuinely in a relationship."
and the tweets Louis sent out could've been management forcing him to make those, especially the time when Louis wore that rainbow apple logo shirt and afterwards he dissed the article that wrote about how he was supporting LGBT lol
100% Larry -
To be honest, I think this song is about an OTP to millions; Larry Stylinson. In fact, Ed Sheeran, the one that wrote this song, said it was about a 1D bromance! Furthermore, it says 'I have loved you since we were 18.' Perhaps, Harry really did love Louis when they met on X-Factor back in 2010. Louis was 18 at that time. Love at first sight? This is what I strongly believe in, the other lyrics to this beautiful song do match perfectly to this situation. Those Larry shippers, including myself, can connect to this. Harry and Louis are made or each other,as time passed, fame really set the line. Back in the fetus day, all you could practically see was Larry, Larry, and Larry. Those two sat together during acoustic/live performances and interviews, the X-Factor video diaries were full of Larry, and so much more. 'Hi' and 'Oops' were their first words, 'Now kiss me you fool!'was a moment to remember, 'And I'd marry you, Harry' also probably killed us all. Fast forward to now, Louis and Harry don't sit together, Louis has a girlfriend (beard if you want) and you never see those funny moments they used to share. 'I wanna love like you made me feel, when we were 18,' probably refers to the fetus days. Ed Sheeran in a hardcore Larry shipper.
